Review: Bath Times are never dull

Hello there, I am Monster Mango...Growls. I am here to make you love your baths. I don't bite and I have a nice smile, and even a nicer scent. True to my name, I smell of a tangy mango, leaving you a soft and fluffy after a good scrub.
There is no more reason to hate bathe time any more. I will keep you hygienic. Even though, I am made of felt, I am soft when wet so don't worry about me leaving abrasions on your skin.
Monster Mango
This is how I look like when I am wet. I am good with foams and bubbles too. Bath times are promised to be fun time. You will be safe in my good hands just like how I am in yours. Reciprocity!
I am value for money too. You can use me for ages and won't really see much of a dent in me. No worries about an early heartbreak, your loyal shower friend is here to stay.
Felt Soap
I am born out of a plastic wrap and my Mummy is Simply For Love. Check out all my others cute Monster siblings. Yipee! I am unfortunately none recyclable. So I die a little each time you use me. But your smile is all worth it. It is the happy moments that matter.
Even if I am gone, my monster siblings will keep you, my darling bright and cheery. When you see them. you will see a bit of me too though all of us look different in our little ways like snowflakes in the sky.
simply for love
Do show my Mummy some love too. She is delicate with her fingers and host great craft workshops and parties. Do check out my cousins who are are lovingly hand-made too.
Meanwhile, stay adorable and love your baths. And be a kind soul and be a dear friend to my other monster siblings. Awww~~~

Staycation at Clover Hotel The Arts

Clover Hotel The Arts
I pretty much had a long weekend for my birthday. Unfortunately, we didn't really put that into good use. We only spent the weekends at a staycation - Hotel Clover The Arts. This is pretty much a no-frills hotel, so it isn't the most exciting place for a staycation since you can't make use of any pool/ gym facilities. But if you are looking for an intimate, cosy place for 2, this would work well.
Located near Clarke Quay, you are basically staying in the heart of great night life and fancy food. A lot of the restaurants that I love are near here. A foreigner looking for an instagram-worthy place to stay while exploring Singapore? This is fantastic for you. The room is pretty spacious and have all the necessities and even a Nescafe Expresso machine if you are a fan of it. I spent a good deal of time trying to figure out how it work -.- Bleh.
Just in case, you really have no clue what to eat, there is Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, Central and Liang Court serve pretty delightful Japanese/ Korean food. For us, we went to Jumbo for lunch instead! Yeah! I am actually more of a J-Pot fan. But we ate there quite a few times liao, so we decided to go for Jumbo instead.
Pick the usual favourites - Chilli Crab. But cos, we weren't exactly a big table, we didn't have much choice if we wanted to finish the food. Ordered some other "exotic" stuff but since I wasn't too involved in the ordering, I don't really remember what we ordered. I am just a happy gobbler.
Had dessert while walking back cos it was warm thought it seemed it was going to rain. What irony. And don't drive to Hotel Clover The Arts, cos they only have 3 complimentary parking lots. Even if you are willing to pay, it is not that easy to find lots. So just use your 2 "car" (Legs in Hokkien) It saves more time :)
And eww~~ to BF. How can someone still have stains on his clothes despite using a bib?!? Tsk tsk.
Mount Fuji
The wifi in the hotel is not very strong. I pretty much spent my time chilling and snapping pics to snap back my money?!? Lol. I am kidding. It is a very nice room so it is just instinctive for you to take lots of photo, lie on the huge bed and errm...doze off. I guess the ambience was just too relaxing! :P
The Art
Otherwise, you could go exploring the stairway and corridors where you will find art littering it. My only regret sadly, was unable to go to every room and take a photo. T.T
personalised toilet
At least, the toilet was personalised for me :P Ok, kidding but I did prank my family on that. :P For those who are curious about the breakfast, they have a decent selection but is not like what you will find in hotels. I would say it is more like a high-end hostel.
Because we were such horrible planners, we missed out this promotion. If you 3D2N, you get to learn to cook our local dishes for free. So good right?!? So that is pretty much "The End" for a birthday. And after that, it is just reality slapping me right in the face. Sian.

A Quarter a Century

Omg, I sound like incredibly old, like a vampire. Haha. But we all grow up, grow old (hopefully not stale) one day.
Possibly one of the best B-day cos it falls on a holiday!!! The BF doesn't have to take leave and can spend quality time with me!!! We started off the day with an 爱心早餐. Just in case, everyone thinks he is the sweetest guy on Earth again, I suggested the idea myself. Cos after 25 years of wisdom, I have learnt that to avoid disappointment, don't hope that people can read your mind and know what you want. Cos they can't and don't!
After a hearty salty breakfast (it is supposed to be macs and cheese by the way), the vampire in me went for a good ole vamp movie. Hotel Transylvania 2. Sorry, but the young vampire can't take horror so we went for something more family friendly. Haha.
Fog Haze
So on the day when everyone wished my a happy birthday, I felt obliged to bless everyone with something too in return. And so I hoped for a day of fogginess no higher than my PSLE score. (No way, the haze should be smarter than me HAHAHA) That got me a lot of (mlm) from my friends HAHAHA! Guess my wish came true! Went everywhere with my mask, so no need to block my friend's faces! Save my photo editing time.
Starbucks Cake!!! Had it for snack and ended up being too full for lunch. My friends even gathered on my birthday for me. Actually, I can't be sure about that. They are probably just meeting up since it is a public holiday and coincidentally my birthday. Maybe Facebook reminded them or something. They probably didn't even remember *sobs*
Neh. But I like to think otherwise. So when the BF went to collect my birthday cake, my friends entertained me and made sure the BF did no wrong to me until dinner time. And of course, some of them flooded me with gifts!!! The presents are still more important than their presence. :P
Had dinner at a nice restaurant which serve really good vegetarian food - J's. The perk of having a foodie as a BF is that you always get to eat good food, of course at the expense of an expanding waist line. But the food here is really fantastic. I like all the dishes! I am definitely coming here again.
What we had for 2 (but would have been good for 3):
Poppers - $17
Paella - $28
Quesadillas - $22
Churros with Bananas & Mangoes - $12
Blowing Candles
Ended the day with our traditional birthday cake - Fickle Feline from Cat & the Fiddle. (Psst...go online to search for discount code to buy it cheaper!)  We always get the same cake for each other birthday! My candles are multi-coloured. You probably can't see it that well in the photos but in the video it is quite obvious. (You can check it out on my Instagram!) Although it is rather unglam, but my candles blowing technique is worthy to note.
I always take that ridiculous deep breathe and blow all my candles at 1 shot to make sure my wishes really do come true. Speaking of which, I can't even remember what I wished for...Ahhh~~~

Reivew: Bioré Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover

Feeling pretty excited about this highly acclaimed make-up remover because there is so much reviews about how good it is. I am sure you girls probably must have heard of this product before :)
Presenting the all new Bioré Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover! It is called jelly for a reason cos it feels like one! Despite its lighter consistency, this makeup remover has a super high cleansing ability that effortlessly dissolves and lifts more makeup in a gentle glide. It is suitable for types of sensitive skin so don't worry if you have sensitive skin!
I have not used the old product before but this new one is touted to be an improved formula made with 40% more moisturising essence nourishes and hydrates skin for a dewy finish. The jelly-like texture is smoother and gentler on skin. It rinses off easily and quickly without any harsh tugging or pulling action on skin. The high cleansing ability dissolves and lifts of all traces of makeup effortlessly. 2-3 pumps and a good rinse is all I need.
Before After
I don't put make-up that much often to begin with, so I chose to use it to remove the makeup from my make-over session. And it is frigging a lot of layers. I think I look like I have been totally filtered, but nope. Now comparing to my naked face, I look so shagged. It is true makeup does wonders but the after effects seems like a blow on my esteem.
Overall, I think this remover is a 1-go wonder. It causes a lot less damage to the skin without all the rinsing and re-rinsing! Retailing at S$24.90 at all leading supermarkets, personal care stores and western pharmacies & departmental stores. I think I can use it to remove the dust on my face too, considering the haze.
Haze Warrior
Take care and stay dust-free!

Review: Care for your Crown with Essentials

Previously, I have did an advert on Essential, a popular haircare brand from Japan. Essential has a wide range of products, from basic care like Shampoo & Conditioner to more intensive treatments like Hair Masks and Leave On Treatments to help repair and care for hair for women and all their hair woes. Today, I have 2 other products to introduce to you. It is the Leave On Treatment range with the brand new CC Oil and Night Care Milk.
Hair Woes
It is common knowledge that heat styling, perming and dyeing can damage your hair, what you may not know is that external environmental factors and your everyday habits can put stress on your hair and impact its health and appearance!
The write up on the 5 stress brothers are as below. Click it to enlarge to know what is hindering you from your gorgeous mane!
1. Blow drying: Heat damage/friction from blow drying The process of blow-drying removes moisture from the hair, both outside and inside the hair - leaving hair dry, brittle and susceptible for further damage
2. Combing: Friction to the hair cuticles due to daily combing Combing through wet hair causes great hair damage as the hair follicle is at is most fragile state. Likewise, the friction caused by coming through dry hair can form hair knots which makes hair prone to unnecessary breakage
3. Split Ends: Fraying of hair shaft due to dry and brittle hair The ends of your hair are the oldest and driest parts. When the protective hair cuticle is destroyed at the end of the hair, the hair splits into two or more parts.
4. Hair Breakage Besides daily heat styling, blow drying and brushing, other seemingly harmless actions like tying your hair into a tight ponytail or twirling your hair with your fingers exert excessive stress on your hair, resulting in hair breakage
5. Dryness: Dry hair that feels rough Exposure to the sun, wind or even air-conditioning can result in hair dryness. The hair cuticle that protects the hair is weakened and is unable to retain moisture within the cuticles of the hair
Lately, my hair have been highly unmanageable (God knows why). Everyone who sees me simply just accuse me of not combing my hair. :( Actually it is cos sometimes I am too tired I fall asleep before my hair is completely dry. And so, I wake up with nice wavy hair (IMO), but everyone thinks it is just a mess.
So what on earth is the cause?
Some of you may have heard of Pillow Friction. It is the friction between your hair and the pillow when you toss and turn at night. It causes the cuticles to be misaligned, creating frizz creates frizz, resulting in a fabulous lion’s mane the next morning! My trademark!
Hair Review
Essential Night Care Milk (Used on the left) : It is used to protect your hair from pillow friction by leaving a protective coat around each hair strand and prevent misaligned cuticles when hair rubs against the pillowcase, leaving hair more manageable the next morning. To be applied on damp or dry hair before going to bed.
Cuticle Coat Protection (Used on the right): Leaves hair smooth & tangle free all day. Contains Hair Supplement Oil, which is similar to hair’s natural oil.
Personally, I think both products work the best when you used them together. The Essential Night Care Milk is thicker and leave your hair feeling very moisturized.  The Cuticle Coat Protection is lighter but smells really lovely. I would say I prefer the effect of the Essential Night Care Milk if I really have to choose one.
Mane Hero
For those who would like to get a bottle of the products, they are retailed at $11.90. Alternatively, you can play Essential’s Facebook game - Mane Hero where you combat the 5 evil Hair Stress Brothers and Pesky Pillow King to win attractive weekly prizes! With my laggy computer, it is a darn hard game.
So no more washing your hair to 'reset' your mane. Now you don't have to compromise on beauty rest and go through this hassle and routine of washing and blow-drying in the morning! Psst...I don't do that I have good hair products, all the more I can sleep later!!! Wahaha~

Review: Hotel Kotex

Brand loyalty is a concept that is best seen in woman's pad. Nope, it is not the writing pad. It is that monthly pad. Women, are God's fickle creation. But one thing I realize we really stick to, through the bad days (literally) are the pads. Of course, sometimes, we do give other pads a try. Free pads, borrowed pads etc. but women just seem to go back to their old pad pack.
In fact, women could be split by the brands they use. *chuckles* I am, and have a always been a Kotex girl. I started going for the "looks" Kotex Luxe has the best interior packaging. I have always thought the flowery interior was very very attractive. But of course, my argument has always been cruelly brought down by people who would tell me what the beautiful florals would be eventually covered with *Haiz*
Hotel Kotex
Maybe it is just me, but I always think Kotex has the thinnest, most comfortable pads. They are barely visible, so there is no self-consciousness that the pad will bulge out in tight skirts.
And also...LOL LAME JOKE ALERT, Kotex can help you reject unwanted suitors. If a man ever pick you up at a bar using match sticks spelling HOTEL, you just have to move 3 match sticks to reject him. HAHAHA.
Kotex Overnight
If you have super heavy flow, I suggest using the Kotex Luxe Overnight pad. Don't judge it by its super thin exterior, it is like an absorbent sponge. I have used it myself so many times and I love it. You can go to bed without a worry. This is that pad that will help you realise that overnight period leakage is never your fault. In fact, leakages won't even exist in your dictionary. :)
With the 32 cm New Honeycomb Liquid-Locker centre specially designed to rapidly absorb and lock away fluid to help prevent back-flow, your intimate area will feel dry and comfortable throughout the night. New Ultra Comfort Cover Specially designed to deliver both dryness and softness, helping provide the ultimate experience of a high performance pad. Surrounding the honeycomb centre is the soft cottony surface with surrounding embossed star-contours will provide additional security and leakage protection.
Kotex Day
During the day, you can try using the Daytime -24cm (Blue). Compared to the Overnight pad (green), it is the like the little, shorter sister. Like her Overnight sister, she is equally competent in keeping you safe and dry. Their vibrant packaging of each pad will also help to brighten up your grey hormonal mood swings!
Want to try this revolutionary pad where softness and dryness come together, get a FREE SAMPLE redemption on Sample Store. Alternatively, you can also request for a FREE SAMPLE on Kotex Facebook page! So feel fabulous with me and be on top of your game even on period days!

LOTD Mesh it Up: The Glitz Closet

Mesh isn't exactly trending at the moment, but I am totally hoping to trend it. The reasons being the slightly sheer clothing give a lot of room for imagination. I think it is sexy yet conservative. It is modest without going straight for the reveal.
I have 2 looks to share. 1 is more of a sophisticated womanly appeal, while the other is more suited for a young lady. Either way, I think mesh apparels can be pulled off pretty well. So, start stocking up your bras with removable straps!!!
1. I am Sexy and I know it!
Checkered Mash Dress
The Checkered Mash Dress is my favourite piece at the shop. The design caught my eye. And I think the real deal is as good as what is seen on the lanky model. Both top and bottom have checkered mesh. This is a classy piece where you can attend functions in, so I think it is very value for money <3 Mix it up with accessories and clutches to give it a dash of colour if you are not used to going plain.
If this dress came with inner lining, it would have been perfect. Otherwise, just go for nude shade undies. My friend suggest wearing kinky underwear underneath if you are meeting your lover. *naughty* But honestly, it is quite difficult to get clothes of quality design with that price. Like most blogshop dresses, I think it leans on short side. But the mesh creates an extension of the dress. For me, I just love the "若隐若现"
2. Xiao Mei Mei
Mid Sleeve Dress
The young look was created using the Mid Sleeve Dress. I did expect it to be a dress, considering I am not that tall. But it ended up more of a long top. The length is honestly a bit odd, so if anyone is going to follow me and you are neither extraordinarily tall or short, I suggest pairing it with shorts or black tights. But if it were really a dress, this piece is really cute cos it is like those loud, shapeless dress that is really funky and reflective of the vibrant youth.
My curly hair and winged eyeliner probably suit the first look better. But in my defense, I dressed myself first before doing my hair and makeup. :P The long sleeve makes the piece kinda warm, but it is good to wear to a colder country. Just a word of caution, the top can be very revealing since it is loose and your bra can be seen from the top.
Liang Court
If you need to touch and feel the dresses before you buy, you are in luck. The Glitz Closet will be having a booth at Liang Court from 7-10th Sep 2015 between 12pm to 7pm. Personally, I feel they have quite a good selection that are suitable for work. But, they also have pretty frocks for the girl in us. And all of this at a very affordable price! No need to worry about burning a hole in your wallet. Yeah!
Although I seem to always talk about the need for decent corporate attires, the wardrobe should also have variation. So stock up, have fun. Maybe we can be twinies, you never know *winks*

Giveaway: Pedi Angel (As Seen in Heaven)

Before After
Do you want callous clear feet like mine too? That is the real before and after effects of using the product. It rolls away the dead skin that is piling up, and so the effect would be brighter, smoother feet. :)
My feet peels really easily, so this product is really a God-send. Cos now I can play footsies under the table. Seduction should never be done in such a wide open space, should it?
Pedi Angel
So the product that I used was Pedi Angel. Have you seen it on TV before? I know some of us have pretty bad experience buying products that we see on TV and it doesn't really work. Pedi Angel because it seems easy to use and seems to be able to promise some results. So I tested it out.
Guess what, it really works. And it works very well too. For me, it has changed my perspective on those dubious "Seen on TV" ads. Pedi Angel is basically a electronic feet exfoliator, making the removal of dead skin effortless. You just on the button and scrap your feet through the rollers. Viola~ Smooth skin.
The only drawback I can find on this product is the loud noise it makes. Sound a bit like a machine doesn't it? But the positives of Pedi Angel are endless in comparison. For the cheapskates, you will be glad to know, each box comes with 4 Stone Refills. A family of 4, great each 1 of you can use 1 roller. You don't have to worry about hygiene issues when sharing. *Thumbs up*
If you have any old folks at home, Pedi Angel is really helpful in maintaining their feet. From the noise it makes, you may think this product is not gentle at all. But really, it depends on hard you push it against your skin. If you run it gently, the friction would not burn your feet.
Dead Skin
Dead Skin Alert! Apart from your feet, you can also use it on the other parts of your body if you want. I won't recommend that unless you are using another roller cos I always have this impression that the feet is the dirtiest part of our body.
Instead of spending your money at the spa, you can now create a leg spa at the comfort of your own home! That's a lot of cost savings from Pedi Angel considering the product itself doesn't even cost as much as a spa. You don't have even need to use it X times to get your money worth.
For those who worry about the product maintenance, cleaning it is not particularly difficult. Like most foot exfoliator, you should clean it after use. The roller is removable from the holder. The holder itself should avoid any contact with water. The Pedi Angel comes with a tiny brush so you can use that to swipe away any dead skin stuck in the device.
To clean the roller, the fastest way is to wash it under a running tap. Leave it to dry and it is ready for the next use. Simple right?
Discount Code
I ended off the foot regime with a feet mask and a lot other masks. Looking so freaky. Lol! If you would like to own your own Pedi Angel As Seen On TV has kindly given you my readers 10% off your purchase if you quote "ForFunk". While stocks last, quote expires on 31/10/2015. On top of that, one of you would also win a free set+refill set if you purchased with my code!!
