Homemade Luxury Spa with Tanamera

Apart from X'mas lunch photos, I realised I lost even more photos. One of them was my self-made spa T.T. (Hence, the photos that doesn't look like my photography!) Fortunately, I didn't lost the whole series but just a portion of it. And good news I have changed my phone so there won't be such hiccups moving forward :D

I was really excited to share this find with you because it is just too good to stay under-rated. Presenting to you, Tanamera, a Malaysian Brand. After my exams, I pampered myself using some DIY self-spa remedy from Tanamera. And I am very satisfied with the results!

This product is supposed to help to reduce cellulite and flabby skin. Personally, I don't really see much of the slimming effect. But this product worked really good as a scrub, my skin was deeply moisturised and silky smooth like a baby!

And I really enjoyed the fragrance of it (Generally, all the products from Tanamera had this therapeutic herb like smell that reminds you of a spa salon). And the best thing is that this smell actually lingers after you bathe. It is super luxurious for the price!

I will be reviewing 3 products from Tanamera and guess what the soap was my favourite. Firstly, it is really affordable. (We all know how long a soap can last!) Plus, it had this rough bits that acted as a good scrub. The product also foamed very well and I love the scent. (It smelt so good that I caught my Mum using it! Could totally smell it!)

Not only that, it act as a pretty good toilet freshener because its scent can fill the entire bathroom! The only grouse I have with soaps is that they sometime let me feel it is quite unhygienic cos they can be quite hard to store. What I did to overcome this was to put it in a spare container! :D Try it too, if you have the same problems as me!

Compared to the scrubs I am used to, I feel that the rice powder was a lot finer and in greater concentration. I could feel work being done as I am scrubbing my face. The fine texture gave me the impression it was less damagig to my skin and could even scrub within the pores. Each sachet has quite a generous portion so I actually use it 3 times before emptying it fully. Hehe! For better effects, use it with a face mask after!

As you can see, all their products are priced very affordably for their quality. Why didn't I know of this earlier! T.T I could have saved myself a bomb and enjoyed a pampering spa in the comfort of my home. And I could have shared with you guys earlier.
If you have any questions, feel free to drop me an email or let me know whether I should do a Couple Spa Products Review next! Hehe! I wish you a spa-ly good time. After exams are soo good, what am I going to do when school starts!!!

Bags for all: Bromin Emporter

I just found a really nice bag and thought I should really rave about it. Actually, the whole point of the review isn't really this bag. But since I am using this bag, I thought I would talk about it first. Hahaha~!

My favourite in the ladies collection was the Mis Zapatos collection because the designs were so cute. The other bags in the collection were also very atheistically pleasing but I felt they were a lot more common. It is not  every day you see heels/shoes on your bags right! Haha

For me, I picked something more in line with my personality. So I went for something that was more subdued and plain. I actually like heels a lot more than flats. But the heels fabric at the back of the bag was a lot more loud. (Eeeks) And I wanted a 3D ribbon so I eventually settled on this.

I realise after using it for a while that the bucket design/ size was perfect for a day out. It was just nice to throw an umbrella, bottle, cosmetic pouch and wallet etc. And you could fit A4 size stuff in it if you have a file or something. The only bad part was there is no zipper and no separator, if you wanted to split your stuff up.

And this is me using the bag. You have option of slinging it or holding it like a normal handbag. I personally prefer holding it. Also you can either show the cuter side - with the 3D ribbons and all or flaunt the plain white side if you want to go for a more serious look. Both look chic!

Apart from bags for females, we also have bags for the males and even the little ones. Since school is starting soon, I decided to do a review on the kid's ergonomic school bag - Bromin as well. It it is so well-made, I can't help but wonder why isn't there an ergonomic version for the adults as well. My books are also very heavy leh!

As you can see, the design is "little adult" 小大人. The bag is very spacious (expandable) but surprisingly light woa. The bag is a very vibrant blue but in photos it doesn't turn out very bright. (There is also a pink version by the way for the girls!) As you can notice, the bag has a few ergonomic designs.

  • Back Support with Plush Cushions - This is really important for the bag cos it helps to support their spine and the cushion helps to soften the impact.
  • G Hook - I guess it is supposed to make it easier for the younger kids, but when the bags get too full, it is actually quite difficult to fasten it.
  • Side Net Pockets - Very useful for putting a bottle and brolly for the older kids.
  • Reflective Stripes - Good to have but the little ones are using the bag for school so probably won' use much of it at night.
  • Suction Pads at the bottom - Not sure what their function is. Elevate the bag from the dirty ground?
  • Lifetime warranty - BEST DEAL EVER!

If you want to buy them in stores, the Bromin lightweight ergo backpacks are available at Tom & Stefanie outlets in Singapore! You can go to Eastpoint Mall Simei, Westmall Bukit Batok or One KM Mall to purchase the bags. The promotional prices are same as online until end of 2017: If you get them this year, you get enjoy the launch price - Bromin Tech (SRP S$88; current launch price of S$68) and Bromin Lite (SRP S$108; current launch price of S$88).

If your kids happen to be like those around us, they may want to pick gai gai bag over school bags. Guess cos it is cuter and also because it reminds them less of school. If they haven't start schooling, you may check out the Momentum Kids, it is freaking cute.

Of course, it probably can't put a lot of books, but it can definitely fit in the things you want the kid to carry himself. Wahahaha. :P Happy shopping for back to school stuff, I will probably do a post on stationary as well. (P.S. my Mum just told me she like this store, got bags for Papa, Mama and Baby :P)

Delightful Desserts with Cake Avenue

Hi guys, if you are wondering how come the photos look really different for this post, it is because I lost all the photos I took on the event itself (T.T) I hope you guys have been following my instagram cos I did at least posted them up there.

But fortunately, I do remember the taste of each and everything. You may have heard of Cake Avenue for their designer cakes, but not be familiar with their dessert menu and their savory Christmas set. (includes free delivery)

I thought I should start off with the Christmas set first since X'mas is coming and you guys may be sourcing for vendors to buy your x'mas party goodies!

Set A (4-6pax) - $72.00
Braised Lamb Shank (2x 450g)
Assorted Canapés 16pc (Salmon, Tuna and Egg Mayo)
Roasted Vegetables
+ Complimentary Nacho chips and sauces (early bird freebie for bookings before 9 Dec)

Set B (4-6pax) - $67.00
Chicken Lasagna
Assorted Canapés 16pc (Smoked Salmon, Tuna and Egg
Mayo)
Roasted Vegetables
+ Complimentary Nacho chips and sauces (early bird freebie for bookings before 9 Dec)

The main difference between the 2 sets are the Chicken Lasagna (Ala-Carte Price: S$32) and Braised Lamb Shank(Ala-Carte Price: S$38). In fact, for my own party, I would have topped up with a separate Chicken Lasagna so that my guests can try both. But my mum made a pretty good point that Chicken Lasagna was more universal. :)

For an additional $100, you could add on a Reindeer cake (Ala-Carte Price: S$112.50), which is absolutely Instagram worthy! If you are on a tighter budged, you might want to get the Chocolate Fudge Yule Log ($45 for 1 Kg). My Mum absolutely loved its thick chocolate. If your guests is into tiny bite sampling, you can get them as Entremets at $5.90 each. Trust me, like everything tiny, they look incredibly adorable.

If your guests have a sweet tooth, there are additional desserts they may get. I think that the cakes are more impressive. But I would make special shout-outs to the jelly-cups and Macarons.

  • Jelly Cups (9pcs)- $45.00
  • Mini Brownies (12pcs)- $18.00
  • Mini Fruit Tarts (12pcs)- $18.00
  • Mini Chocolate Tarts (12pcs)- $18.00
  • Macarons (12pcs)- $24.00

If you missed their Christmas set, fret not cos they have a series of creations on their dessert menu that mimics main entries like burgers, fries, soup etc. Because they look so real, it actually got my brain a little confused. My tongue was expecting savoury but the food were sweet. Hahaha.

I tried everything on the dessert menu apart from the drinks. (Yes, I am probably diabetic cos of you guys T.T) They are very, very instagram worthy, cos they are realistically cute. If you come with a group of friend, you probably can give everything a try. Otherwise, you may follow my recommendations. :D

If you only have space for 2, try the Diner Sliders and Fries (S$15.90). I love it cos the beef patty is actually chocolate. One thing I note about Cake Avenue, their chocolate is super thick and yummy. For me, I like it without the sauce. But it is kinda of fun to squeeze them on.

The Nachos Dulces (S$12.90) are highly irresistible. I never knew they tasted so good with Chocolate. In fact, I think it might be even better than Cheese. It comes with ice-cream on top. But, I preferred it with a drizzle of chocolate a lot. mmm...yum...good orgasm. :P

If you prefer something warmer and pops in your mouth, I would suggest the Lava Pops (S$8.90). It is an interesting sweet potato taste (not sweet potato by the way), with cheesy vanilla filling. You would need to eat it when it is hot to enjoy its full flavour. The Great Con Dog (S$8.90) is a good dessert if you like custard and want some ice-cream to go along.

Just in case, you think I love everything on the menu, I actually don't. I had very high expectations on the Alphabet Soup (S$8.90). But it just didn't work for me. It was just too sweet. With a bit of modification, it may become a "hot favourite" (no pun intended.)

So I missed out the drinks totally, and it was sad cos I love unicorns T.T Guess that's a reason for me to go there again. Hahaha. The drinks are all at S$7.90 each. Pretty affordable huh. For a specialty cake shop, their savoury food was actually very good. I also noticed on the menu, they had normal mains such as salad, pasta etc.

I haven't try them yet, but do tell me if it is really good. Cake Avenue is a lot more convenient who live in the west. But fret not, cos they do provide deleiery service if you live in the east and need some party snacks and pastry! :D

New Hype: Maprow Coconut Chips

I am pretty sure I found the next big thing after Salted Egg Yolk Chips, (drum roll please.) Presenting coconut chips!!! What is impressive is that every munch, you can taste the flesh in each bite. To the extent, I am wondering, what don't they exist in bigger packets.

Fortunately for us all, despite Maprow being a Thai Brand, it is retailing in the shelves of Naiise, Megafash, Fresh Plus, Thai Supermarket @ Golden Mile Complex, I-Trade Healthcare and That Health Shop @Arcade. We don't really have to wait that long before sinking our fangs to these goodies. If you love the taste of Coconut, I am very sure this is going to be your favourite snack.

There are 5 flavours in total and I did a taste test on them all. All the chips have a pale, white exterior except for the spicy Tom Yum and  (You can totally see the flaming red in them. From Anti-clockwise:-
  1. Original - You can totally taste the fragrance in each piece of the coconut chips. Best for those who love the authentic taste of Coconut.
  2. Honey - Initially, I couldn't really taste the different between that of the Original. The sweet honey only strikes as an after-taste. I think it sorts of dilute the taste of coconut. Good for people who like a light, mild coconut taste.
  3. Tom Yum - Anything that Thai can go with Tom Yum. It is kinda of spicy so it mask the whole taste of the Coconut. (I thought it was a pity, cos I love the coconut taste!)
  4. Wasabi - I had high expectations for this. But I think this doesn't go too well with coconut. At first taste, you would think it is a harmless origninal, until it shoots right through your nose with a vengeance. Shiok!
Different people obviously have different taste preference. But I am not going to hide behind this excuse and not give you top choices. I don't really think that this comes as a surprise but my favourite is the original. (Guess I like my coconut authentic.)

They are retailed at $2.80 per pack with a decent amount. So try it (before they become a hype and we have to queue), and challenge my rankings if you think your favourite flavour deserve to be ranked higher.

Hotel Jen: Meet Jeno and Jena

I am sure some of you have already heard of this Hotel - Hotel Jen Tanglin. Personally, I love their interior deco, cos it has this modern retro feel that really appeals to me. This is not the first time I am there. In fact, we didn't went there to survey for our wedding. Tang Tang Tang...but we are not revealing the location now. Naughty. Hahaha.

Much as I wished I was here for a staycation (Not lucky, fast and catching enough to be picked to answer the Q&A T.T), I was here for their X'mas Feast and the launch of something very, very savvy. <3

I am going to start off with the food first, because their seafood buffet is quite highly raved in the social media. What I sampled that day was not the seafood buffet, but one thing I am quite certain is the hype was not just because of great marketing effort but because of the good quality.

I had at least 2 servings for the food and even more for some because it was so good. The meat selection was really yummy and it literally melts in your mouth. Special mention to the osmanthus jelly dessert. (It was that good I had 4.) For the mains, I loved the prawn and lagasane. Mmm. And guess what's Jeno and Jena.

Alright, alright, I shall not keep you guys in suspense. The real reason why we are there today is to welcome the new colleagues of Hotel Jen - Relay Robots Jeno and Jena. Yes, please scream in excitement. We are really going to witness IA integration this lifetime.

Jeno is the male robot. He is located at Hotel Jen - Orchard and you can identify him in his turquoise suit. In terms of functionality, there is really not much difference between him and Jena.

Jena is the female robot and is dressed in pink. If you are into a robot romantic tale, she is also the wife of Jena. Like a Romeo and Juliet, they are separated. She works in Hotel Jen - Tanglin.

So in a sense, it is quite good for the guests because you will get to meet them whichever hotel you go to. If they are not busy serving you, you can see them lepaking in the hotel lobby, ready to welcome you.

Please don't tell them I told you this, but if you really want to meet them, you can keep requesting for amenities or call for food delivery. Yes, they can deliver you food. Although they can't really talk, your doorbell will ring when they arrive. And then you can have them all for yourself to take photos!

So if you want to experience this guest enhancement and have that close-up contact with robot "butlers", it is not too late to book yourself a stay. :D Otherwise, you could always camp and enjoy their buffet (which is beside the lobby), you will be sure to catch sight of these cuties!

A Eulogy to my Pet Tortoise: Rest in Peace, Little D

Today my tortoise, Little D left us. My Dad and brother tried to let the news gently to me, but still I was devastated. I cried silently as I was bathing till my eyes were red and sore. My Dad said it was of old age (not of negligence since he bathed and fed him regularly.) But don't tortoises live to a hundred years?!?

I never really took death well. Every time, someone left, I felt as though a part of me was gnawed away and my soul would never be complete. Ever since my Grandma passed away, I had been kindly excused from wakes and funerals. And now this ball of negative emotions is back - anger, guilt, remorse, devastation and pain.

I am angry at my Dad for not informing us when Little D was acting out of sorts and more legathic than usual. I was furious that I didn't bring him to the doctor to cure his moldy shell (even when every one told me it was healthy fungi). I was infuriated that he did not show me signs that he was leaving and left so unexpectedly. Ingrate!

I am guilty for not being a better owner. Despite 16 years of thick and thin, we have not a single photo together, partially because he was always there, albeit silently but still very present. And also partially because my tortoise had this default sian face when he took photos. He always smiled when we splashed water at him though.

--- Chatted to my BF and is feeling better after googling about Little D's species. I am now very sure he led a happy, blissful life during his 16 years with us. I decided to write 10 facts of Little D for his Eulogy instead to remember him by instead of negative, nasty feelings. ---
  1. I actually don't know how old Little D is. Little D came into out life (literally crawl to our door one day). And he came around the time my hamster ran away. So we always thought Little D was God's compensation to me. (And he accompanied me for 16 years.)
  2. Little D is very mild-tempered and kind. Unlike many other red-eared sliders who bite and show aggression, Little D never once bit me even when I played with his paws. I always tot we should have got him a friend so he won't be lonely, but apparently his species are territorial and are happier alone.
  3. Little D has a chip on the back of his shell. It is because I was playing with him on a table one day when I was still in my early teens and he fell off. Initially, I was afraid he would die from shocked (My bro's tortoise died because of that.) But thankfully apart from that chip that never grew back, he lived till quite a ripe old age.
  4. Little D doesn't eat pet feed. He is quite picky, preferring Kang Kong and fresh fruits. We even grow his own little pot of vegetables. But I did make him eat pet feed for protein when his shell was a bit mouldy. Can't say he enjoyed it but he ate it nonetheless.
  5. Little D can really run. During his bathe time, it is usually a case of him crawling about as we chase after him. He can hop too! (Bouncing around on his shell). He is one hell of a weird fellow.
  6. Little D enjoys having water being splashed on his face like a waterfall. You can literally see him smiling when you put him under the running tap (slow stream of water). He would stick out his tail and sometimes even pretend he is swimming. Doofus.
  7. Little D is quite smart. He knows who feeds him or will feed him. Usually he will knock on his aquarium when my Dad or me come home or is about to leave the house. He ignores the rest of the family.
  8. Like I say, Little D has this default glazed, sian face. I used to talk to him when I was younger and he seemed to be quite a good listener.
  9. When Little D is not in shy mood, he may let you stroke his head and play with his claws and paws. And sometimes even his tail too.
  10. Little D hated scrubs. We had to do that when his shell was mouldy. But he really disliked it and would let his head out to do a snap. Sometimes he would snap at the brush too. :)
We love you Little D. You will be missed.
Maybe one day I will have another Little D2 for little ones but they will never be like you. Cute and gentle. <3

A whimsical good time with thepuffyfluffy

Usually for overseas collaborations, I rarely get tot meet up with the people I work with for obvious geographical distances. So it was really cool when I got to meet Pink, one of the owners from thepuffyfluffy.

Instead of receiving my products via air, I got them from her personally. And I even got a chance to introduce to her some of the best food and attractions we have in Singapore! Sometimes I wonder why am I not SG Ambassador?!?

You may have already seen the sneak peak on my Instastory. Here's the whole full blown whimsical delight! If you are like me, a fan of anything mystical and reeks fantasy, you really need to hop over to thepuffyfluffy to have a look at their produce.

Mermaids, unicorns, you have them all in pastel rainbow colour and a variety of merchandise. I am only wearing the sleep mask and the PJs. But there are tote bags, cushions, cover-ups, accessories and even blankets!! (And, psst they might be selling all of these in Singapore soon. Will update you then <3)

Here's me decked in my happy colours. I guess I haven't been looking so young for a really long time considering I don't have much proper rest. I look like a cheerful little girl. Now I think I really understand why PJs should always be silly and gay, cos it attracts pretty dreams!

Usually I am always decked in duller PJs but I guess it is time for a change. I like the fact the PJs are loose and airy for our warm weather. One interesting fact about the eye mask was they are tied on, and thus fits comfortably on top of your eyes. It even have soft furry fabric on the inner side to keep your eyes warm and snug.

Because the PJs shorts reminded me of surfer's shots and I thought maybe we can wear them out if we match them differently. So I slipped on a black tight clubbing top and hey, I think with this look, you can walk at least to your nearest NTUC to grab supper liao! :D

I hope you guys enjoyed the review. Meanwhile, you can hop over to thepuffyfluffy to make a list of your wants so that you can snag them all up when they arrive on our shores or when you go to Bangkok for a visit. By the way, do you know thepuffyfluffy occassionally hold interesting workshops for you to make the merchandise yourself :D You can also try that out when you are in Bangkok the next time round.

I think I may be dropping by Bangkok next year, with a new list of interesting activities to try out. (Psst, out last itinerary (Read them here and here!) was featured on 世界正美丽 Wonderful World Series 13!  So, stay tune for more interesting updates!

Food Tour Part 8: Atas but so damn Good

Had been eating quite a lot of good food given that my birthday, anniversary and BF's credit card free meal are all jumbled into one whole quarter. It is kinda of jamming my phone. Oops no more space to snap new photos. So let's share more food yea!

This was where we went for my Birthday meal, so you can imagine how good it must probably be for him to bring me proudly there. And yeap, it was so good I licked those plates clean. And yet the BF was like "crap he ordered the wrong dish" I will probably be bringing my family there the next time round so that we can share more and try more food.

We had the Traditional Stuffed Roman Schiacciata, but oops we stuffed with the wrong filling. The best we heard was the chessy mushroom. But even the "wrong one" tasted heavenly. The Baked Pork Belly was also sinfully good. And the fennel stuffing, whatever that was, was truly yummy! Psst, it taste even better with Mustard.

We also had the Garganelli with Lamb Ragout, which was very hearty and savory. But it does get a bit Gao Wei (sickening) when you have too much of it. Order this to share and savour it on your own.

As you may know at Hill V2 Mall, there are many other ice-cream parlour, so after this there is a selection of dessert to melt your heart. I settled for Cold Stone Creamery that day. Cos it is my day, I got to pick the flavour too! :D

This second place was a place I nearly swallow the deco which looked like chilli flakes. Stupid to the max. Guess place was too atas for kampung girl like me. Restaurant Labyrinth has been 1 Michelin Star by the 2017 Michelin Guide in Singapore. And the BF has been raving how lucky I was to get to try this place, thanks to his credit card.

Having said that, I concluded this place is not cheap. Haha. But it is good for special occassion. The food is highly instagram-worthy and delicious too. And we saw a lot of "big, rich shots" while we were there. Guess we know where to mingle and snag a rich hubby. Muhaha.

Just in case you were wondering, I took a lot of photos and "failed" boomerang for my Instastory. Check some of them out. Me trying to do a yolk poke boomerang which ended up looking all wobbly. By the way, what I had was absolutely delicious.

Dessert of the day! The presentation was frigging awesome. And the egg is runny with the mango stick rice feeling. Till now I am mindblown at how that happened. ?!? Yea, and I failed to make it crack open. T.T

Because the BF dish had a little fly, we had 3 servings of it. And after 3 times, I still didn't get the perfect Boomerang. Stupid or what. And all the BF got additional for his bug was an extra cup of coffee :(

Snacks (Rojak Puffs, Charred Radish Cake, Nasi Lemak Chwee Kueh) - The Nasi Lemak Chwee Kueh was the most interesting. It was like a whole nasi lemak packed into a kueh, the size of my thumb and pointing finger.

Starter (Hokkaido Scallop - Bak Chor Mee) - It looks like a real Bak Chor Mee but made of seafood. It looked so real so you can imagine how much effort the chef put in to design the food. <3

Mains (Indonesian Pork Belly or Tiger Prawn) - Usually I don't take prawn but the prawn was so fresh. If you prefer something creamier, I would suggest the Tiger Prawn. Both were good but I prefered the Tiger Prawn more. :D

Dessert (Mango Sticky Rice and Petit Four) - Ok, I love the mango sticky rice especially after you spam the sesame sauce (dark soy sauce) and sesame seeds (pepper). It insanely resembled an egg. The macaroons were okay but given that the dessert was so good, I guess it paled a little in comparison. Oops.

Check out the fake chilli deco I nearly swallowed. Guess, I couldn't be faulted cos it looked so incredibly real. I should have taken a sniff first. One sniff I would have known they were just scented petals T.T Don't make the same mistake as me when you are there, ok!

We went for this for our anniversary. Birds of a Feather had great, posh ambience. The food was good too. But it was just way too noisy for my liking (considering I just touched down earlier and was in not that great mood.)

We had the Organic Ma Po Tofu Burger, Hong Shao Short Ribs and Crispy Trotters in a Bag (by now it is kinda of obvious, all the unhealthy piggy food I like hehe) The price was kinda of on the high side so we didn't have much to share. Good for special occasion but too much for a normal day. To end off, here's what I wore that day. :D Me looking left and right for new content HAHAHA.
