8 Things I love about Dry Shampoo

Colab Dry Shampoo sent me their series to try out. There was quite a bit of anticipation on my end because this was the first time I am using dry shampoo. So, here's a post on 10 takeways I had after using it :)
  • Dry Shampoos are excellent hair fresheners. You know sometimes the hawker smell lingers in your head after lunch. Give your hair a quick spray and you are ready for your next meeting!
  • They make great gifts for new mums. If you are Chinese, you would know that during the confinement, mothers are not supposed to wash their hair. Given how warm and humid Singapore is, this would be great for Mums to keep themselves smelling good :)
  • It is portable. The bottle is quite light and fits snugly in my gym bag. If you are a person who love outdoor activities, you might want to try out Active+.  The formula is enriched with conditioning moringa seed which can effectively absorbs oil while helping protect against UV and pollution.

  • You can use it to tease your hair too. If you have an event going on in the evening, I would recommend having a bottle of Extreme Volume + at hand. It makes even the most limp hair go big and  sophiscated. Plus point, it comes with bergamot and rose scent!

  • Dry shampoos are quite afforable. Before discount, Colab Dry Shampoo retails at around S$14 per bottle which can last at least a month if you use it daily. Way cheaper than hair fragrances!

  • If you a fan of variety, you will be happy to know that Colab Dry Shampoo have 9 different scents/ functions suitable for your needs.

  • It is fun and easy to use. Shake it! Spray it! Tease it! You can either spray your roots or direct on your hair like me. It doesn't matter because it doesn't leave any white residue!

  • If you only go for vegan products, Colab Dry Shampoo is cruelty free and vegan free. Also, it can used for all hair types, colours and textures.
Here's the other 7 scents you can pick for yoruself:
  1. Original: Bergamot and rose scent (same as Extreme Volume+)
  2. Paradise: Tiare flower & Coconut. A must-have for a beach vacation.
  3. Good Vibes: Sweet Apple & Orange Blossom
  4. Unicorn: Jasmine & Vanilla. Guess now we all know how a lengendary creature smells like now...hehe.
  5. Tropical: Papaya & Peach. Another option for the beach vacation
  6. Mermaid: Mandarin & Driftwood. Good when you are feeling the dreamy, princessy vibes.
  7. Fruity: Apple & Watermelon. I quite like this scent cos it makes me feel very cheery.

Funky Find: Axtro Fit 2

Hey guys, guess what! The next generation fitness tracker that is developed in collaboration with Health Promotion Board for the upcoming National Steps Challenge Season 5 is out! If you are a Singaporean or a Permanent Resident, who is a Silver Generation (born in year 1959 earlier), rejoice!

As long as you have signed up for Season 5 and have not received any heart-monitoring fitness tracker during Season 4, you will be eligible for the special edition Axtro Fit 2. Check out the chic red straps, super auspicious! For more details on the collection and eligibility, please refer to this link.

We have tested out the Axtro Fit 2 and here are some of the reasons why we like it better than its predecessor!

  1. Colour screen: My father was immediately attracted to this new and visible feature, so he is now hoarding mine until he gets his special edition Axtro Fit 2.
  2. Magnetic Charging Cradle: Personally, I prefer this charging design. It feels more sleek and stylish.
  3. Improved sensors: The old folks in my house don't really care about this function. But to me this matters a lot. Axtro Fit 2 can sense the heart rate as well as the steps more accurately. In addition, there is a workout mode to track exercises more easily with a real-time heart-rate view.
  4. Extended Battery Life: It makes me feel I am saving energy and thus saving money...hehe.

If you are not a Silver Generation, fret not. You can also get your very own Axtro Fit 2 at $19. You can either purchase it directly from AXTRO Sports through their online store or visit their brick and mortar shop at #02-22 at Peninsula Shopping Centre (beside Funan).

Compared to other fitness watches, I find the Axtro Fit 2 quite value for money. I currently own a Fitbit Ionic as well. Admittedly, I don't use all the functions of  my Fitbit Ionic but of all the functions I use, the visible lacking functions of Axtro Fit 2 are the waterproof ability, sleep sensor and trainer. For any of you who are thinking of getting a more expensive tracker, I would suggest you to try out the Axtro Fit 2 first before you make your big-ticket purchase. From experience of the people around me, not everybody enjoys being tracked daily and not everyone actually require more functions on top of the basics. Hope this review helps, as always feel free to hit me up if you would like more advise :D

Znique: Bye Bye Bump

Although I don't have a full face of acne, I recently had quite a bit of huge, ugly bumps (with pus) on my face due to the wrong use of a facial product. Annoyingly, the pus didn't grew smaller with the days. My facial couldn't really do much to it either because my therapist strongly advised against squeezing them.

I was quite affected by these huge pimples because although I never had fully clear skin, I never had such visible blemishes for long-term either. For a while, I avoided taking photos/ selfies because I didn't really wanted these moments immortalised.

When Znique sent over their anti-acne serum, I was like "why not". There was really nothing to lose. First of all, I really need to gush about the cute bag it came in and the cosmetics mirror. Really love the peachy pink colour. Am currently using it as a pouch to store my miscellaneous stuff.

The instructions specicfid using it 2-3 times a day. I only use it once before bedtime every night. The serum is rather gel-like and smells quite herbal. It is made up of natural ingredients so it is kinda of light on the skin. Most importantly, I find it quite effective for me.

Znique managed to reduce the redness. The bumps have grown smaller, but are the still there at the moment. However, I no longer have to shun close-up photos because it is not that visible. I mean if you zoom in etc., you probably can see it. I am quite satisfied with the product and will be using it until my bumps are gone.

If you are keen, it is now on sale at its website for $26. The usual price is $29.90. For friends with acne, I think I finally know how it feels like. My confidence did pummel a bit because of 2 big dots. I really hope Znique works for you. Cheers!

Feeling fresh with Jomingo

If life has taught me anything, it seems that as I age, I try to be more environmentally conscious and I seem to gear towards natural products. I came across Jomingo (a local brand) and wanted to share with you guys about this natural deodorant that keep your underarm fresh and stench-free.

To share a bit more, this is actually the first time I am using an organic deodorant. For green friends, you would be happy to know that all ingredients used are natural and ethically sourced. The packaging is also biodegradable. Comparatively, the product may seem a bit more premative. You merely press the side to push the product up (it doesn't have the twist and turn system like our lipsticks) but it doesn't affect the experience.

We reviewed both the Grapefruit and Lisea Cubea scent from Jomingo. If you really love a grapefruit, you will be pleased to know that the grapefruit deodorant smells like the actual fruit. Lisea Cubea is made out of a mixture of aroma scents. Although the ingredients are not specifically listed, I can smell the lemongrass in it. Good for outdoor activities to keep the mosquitoes at bay.

Generally, I find the deodorants sticks quite easy to use. You merely have to swipe it twice under your armpit and you are good to go. The application is not very even and you may need to flick away the bigger pieces but I don't really find it much of a turn-off. It doesn't keep your pit totally dry, but even when I sweat, I still feel fresh and smells good <3 Honestly, I don't see myself going back to chemical products, given that the organic products work well for me. I am sure some of you may have more questions, so feel free to send them over :D

Little Miss Dainty with Yuna_Mis

"Never too many", that's what I would proclaim when it comes to earrings. I am bringing dainty, girly pieces back into my collection. FYI, I now have an earrings storage organiser and with more storage space, I can now increase my collection of danglies on my ears. Hehe.

When I received my package from Yuna_Mis, I had quite a bit of X'mas vibes from the flakes packaging. The little girl inside me squealed silently at the cute sakura flowers and pink wrapping. It has been a while since I felt so dainty. Maybe my style is evolving again...hehe.

Am pretty thrilled by this piece because it got my hub's approval. Although I do think I am a strong independent woman and need no man agree with my shopping buys, his acknowledgement of my good taste made me felt good. In his words, "this piece is quite unique" and he fiddled with it a bit.

I do think although it is quite an interesting piece on its own, it may be a bit harder to draw attention to it on my ears because it is quite a tiny, intricate piece. Am thinking of tying my hair up when I show it to the world...hehe. Am quite pleased with this piece cos I am totally imagine dressing up or down with it.

Tada...presenting my favourite piece. This piece surpass my expectations with the intricacy of the flowers. Initially, I was a little worried it might be too heavy for my ears. I have quite a few pieces that made my ears hurt when I wear them too long. When I realise how light they were on my ears, I immediately upgraded this to be in my top 10 all-time favourites.

I have shifted out of the dainty look for a while, simply because I am not a very demure lady. But I feel this piece has character and I think still reflect my personality in it. Yes, I wear my heart on my ears...not my sleeves. Saving this for CNY or wedding dinners. <3

The last piece in the collection was an asymmetrical piece. This was initially my most anticipated piece. I feel a little bad for it, because it is placed last simply because the other 2 were too outstanding. Nonetheless, I still like the design. But it is definitely not a challenging piece if you intend to pair it with formal wear.

Although I am not much of a sweetheart, the pieces of Yuna_Mis has definitely scored a place in my heart. And they are so thoughtful to provide complimentary alcohol wipes, spare back stoppers and polishing cloth. The polishing cloth is really handy even for my other jewelry. I have nothing but praises for Yuna_Mis, totally worth our support <3

Update: Use "Forfunk15" during checkout 15% off. no minimum purchase required.

For Sale: Scarlet Tonics

Hey guys, you are in luck because we are selling 4 boxes of Scarlet away. Scarlet is a tonic that can help regulating your menstrual. It is 100% made up of natural goodness such as Chasteberry and wild yam. The retail price for each box is $50 but we will be selling at $25 per box.

It is not that the product isn't good, but we are preparing for something *hush hush* for now. So this product is not very recommended for women who are going through that stage. Teehee. Drop me an email if you want it or convince me to give it to you free. Haha.

Funky Find: Fresh Produce at Lim Chu Kang

Feeling quite like a tourist in my own country, my family went for a tiny road trip to Lim Chu Kang for our marketing needs. Far away from the bustling city, I felt like I was tossed into some rural areas. Along the way, we also passed by many cemeteries. But it wasn't very eerie cos the sun was bright and cheery.

Not the most convenient place in Singapore, there was only one bus route. Along our way to Kin Yan, I was praying rather hard for our car to not break down on this god forsaken place. Hehe. Sounds pretty much like a first world problem, heh.

For all you readers who are into organic food, Kin Yan is a pesticide free farm. You can find quite a bit of fresh produce at a fraction of the sales price if you have the patient to make a trip in. Honestly, apart from the long journey, Kin Yan is quite an interesting place to visit. You can check out the farm where mushrooms, wheat and some vegetable are grown.

For me, the most interesting find was the black chicken. I never knew it had such fluffy feathers <3 Apart from the local produce, you can find tonics from Hock Hua (heard they were affiliated). There is also wheat ice-cream, pure wheat juice and mushroom soup for sampling. There are also DIY growing kits available. Personally, I would really recommend grabbing the mushroom soup and their fresh produce home (it is really fresh and yummy!) Note: You can get free delivery if you buy S$100 of their produce!

Since we made such a far trip, we went all out and also visited the weekend market at Kok Fah. Comparatively, Kok Fah had a tiny crowd. My father got all excited seeing the endless rows of vegetables. According to our house-chef, the price of the vegetables was not that competitive. But it was definitely much fresher than the products you can find even at the wet market.

My brother and I were more interested in the side activities. I had quite a good time observing the turkey (first time seeing one in my life OMG), frogs and terrapins. There was also a pond full of aggressive koi fish swarming to be fed. Personally, my interest lie more in the plants. I spent most of the time exploring the vegetation available for sales haha. We didn't buy anything but I think I more or less had a sense of what I wanted to grow in my mini garden once our house arrive.

Although my brother and I are no kids, we nonetheless had quite a bit of fun at the weekend market. I would definitely recommend this to families with your kids. While the kids wander about, you can also do some grocery shopping. Feels like a good deal if you ask me. And it is also a pet friendly place, we caught quite a bit of cute, friendly dogs sniffing around <3

Will probably be back again once our house arrive and maybe again when we have a little one...It is quite a long ride for us, but I think it is definitely worth the time :D
