22 Stories: Part of their World

Attention all kidults, here's an event you cannot miss! Last weekend, the hub and I popped by 22 Stories. A production from ANDSOFORTH Jr., you get to enter 22 (yes, this is not a typo, there are indeed 22 rooms) Instagram-worthy experiential rooms. In each room, you will meet a familiar character from your childhood stories come to life!

There are 4 lands in total - Storyland, Wonderland, Grimmsneyland and Land of Nights. There are 5 sessions in a week, once on Fri and twice on Sat and Sun. Each session lass for 4 hours. If you want to go through all the stories, be on time! (We had to sit out of 2 stories cos we were late T.T) Don't worry about photos, cos there will be plenty of breaks for you to take more shots!

I was late because I didn't know there was food available at the event hall. Psss, the food is quite reasonably priced so you don't have to stuff yourself before going there. Some tips for you, the characters are very, very helpful. If you want a photo, just ask them. Plus, they know where's the best spot to get that insta-shot and will be happy to direct you.

There is quite a bit of physical activities and participation needed. I wore a dress. One thing you probably don't know, I wore safety shorts underneath. If you are a lady, do the same! Your movement will be less restricted and you can freely try more action-packed poses. :P

If a picture speaks a thousand words, a video probably speak a trillion more. I have embedded a few videos for you guys so you kinda of know what to expect and determine whether this is your kind of thing. Haha, don't worry, I didn't film everything because the surprise element forms part of the experience. And because the characters modify the storyline based on the audience's reaction, your story may differ slightly from mine...Oooo...

Personally, I think you should avoid entering the room before experiencing the stories, because you will take up quite a bit of the fun. So do your very best to restrain those urges to feed your cam. Another tip for the effi, there are some rooms which are open during the intervals. Ask the staff on where you can pass those free time.

Ending off the post with more photos of my face cos...erm I took a lot of photos and it is such a waste not to post them. Haha. You can take reference from some of my photos and create your own insta-versions. On an unrelated note, the female characters are all extremely pretty, which is why I took photos with all of them. However, I didn't post all up cos the lighting there is quite harsh, and so photos don't do justice to them.

The characters you would meet depends whether you are visiting on an event or odd week. Don't worry if there are long queues because it is actually more interactive when there are more children and people! In fact, it will be quite awkward if it is just you and the character. Would really recommend families, couples and people who enjoy photography to attend this event. And you know what, I actually can't wait for their next event already. #excited

Upload the photos on instag and you will get to bring home beautiful stickers!

Funky Find: Mustafa Centre

Last weekend, we explored Mustafa Centre cos we were in the district. To those who are foreign, Mustafa Centre is a 24-hours shopping centre that sells everything. And by everything, I mean an amazing gigantic variety. Even though I am a Singaporean, this is my first time stepping into Mustafa Centre. And haha, I got lost inside.

This place was so big, I just wandered from one aisle to another, trying to find Poppadum chips. I didn't find my chips for the first half hour, and ended up picking a lot of other stuff...frigging crazy huh. And I felt so dizzy with the selection, I was more than ready to leave without my chips.

Can you imagine, there can be like 2 whole aisle filled with items of the same kind i.e. dates?!? I mean how many brands of dates are there! The good news is this place hold a lot of brands which NTUC or Sheng Shiong doesn't hold. If you really is out to find something and it is not in the supermarkets, you are likely to find it here. If it can't be found here, it probably can't be found anywhere else.

Price-wise, it is slightly cheaper than the online retail stores. But...I am not sure if I am willing to travel all the way there. And it can be a bit cramp and stifling inside with all the items and people.

Since I was there, I actually checked out the gold level. And it was very, very impressive. I do see myself buying a piece there in the future...hehe cos some of the designs are really nice. Gold may not be raging with the Chinese here, but it sure do with the Indians.

And if you are shopping there, be prepared to get your bags and other shopping bags cable-tied. I didn't get my bag cable-tied cos my bag is so transparent, you can see everything, LOL! All in all, it is really a great unique must-try experience. I will be back again, but I guess the question is how frequent, haha. In the end, I didn't even buy that much stuff cos it was just too exhausting to walk from one end to another.

Journey to the East: Lu Ding Ji

Last weekend, we popped by Lu Ding Ji for affordable taiwanese food. Lu Ding Ji is located at Viva Business Park, right next to Decathlon. For those of you readers who live in the East, it is an extremely convenient place for you to grab a bite after you get some of your sports gears.

You will be happy to note that despite its restaurant setting, the food at Lu Ding Ji is kind to your pockets. You can get a main below S$10 and the portion is very generous. There is a variety of food to choose from, so you will be sure to find something that suit your palette. On an unrelated note, do give a second glance to their porcelain bowls cos they are gorgeous, makes me really want to have something like this at home next time to serve my guest!

Lu Ding Ji adds a local flavour to the food, so the food is not exactly the taste you could get at the Shilin Market in Taiwan. Of the food who tried, 3 of its mains/ snacks  left a deep and very positive impression! From left to right:
  1. Pork Rice Bowl ($9.50) - Very yummy and homey. It is not the Ru Rou Fan you will get in Taiwan. But the braised pork was soft and easy to chew. And it comes with a lava egg too!
  2. Crispy Chawanmushi ($8) - This is exclusive to Lu Ding Ji and I have never tasted anything similar elsewhere. It is my favourite and I would come again just to have this. If you love eggs, you are bound to love this dish.
  3. Intestine Meesua ($10.50) - The braised intestine is soft enough for my liking and the intestine did not come with a smell. It is quite hard to find well-cooked meesua in Singapore. I would really recommend this if you have cravings for meesua.

If you are coming in a group, you might want to try its claypot series. From top left to bottom left:
  1. Tau Kee and Tau Pok Clapot ($4) - Value for money purchase and the gravy is good.
  2. Pig Large Intestine and Stomach Claypot ($12) - My favourite gravy. It has a tinge of vinegar. I could just eat this with plain rice everyday!
  3. Mushroom Noodle Bowl ($8.50) - This might be an acquired taste. Personally, I enjoyed the strong herbal, mushroomy taste of this dish. But not everyone at the table liked it as much as I did. I guess it really depends how "real" a fan of mushrooms you are :P You can also change the noodles to meesua, depending on your preference for your noodles!
  4. Beef Rice Bowl ($10) - My least favourite among the dishes, maybe because I am more particular about my beef?
  5. Chicken Noodle Bowl ($8.50) - This is the healthy version for those of you who wants to avoid the fatty bits of the pork in the braised pork. Personally, I would think the fatty bits are the nice parts, hahaha, but my Bro would think otherwise. Hehe.

Please also remember to save some tummy for the drinks and desserts!!! Psss, you get to customise your own bubble tea. For us, we chose a Bubblegum Mile Tea with Lychee Popball ($3.50) because it seemed novel. Didn't expect it to end up tasting so incredibly good. For our other drink, we went on the safe route cos we thought the novel drink may end up weird. We picked the Peach Green Tea with Aloe Vera ($3.50). Although it was good, it lacked the surprise factor for me. So try something different when mixing your bubbletea to fully utlise the customise experience.

Even for desserts, you can customise it too! The shaved ice ran out. So we got the customised desserts too. We were a bit bumped that the aiyu and grass jelly base ran out. So we had the tau huay base instead. First of all, I was amazed by the portion!! Good enough for 5 to share!) After adding on all the the toppings, this bowl would cost $6 max. I was also quite impressed with the tau huay cos it tasted different (more milky) than the other tau huay we will have outside. It would be great if they can set up drinks/ desserts store around Singapore. HAHAHA, so that I don't have to go all the way to the East just to have this. HAHAHA!
If you happen to be/live in the East, Lu Ding Ji is one place you should add to your hang-out list. Good food at affordable price, with good variety. What more can you ask for!

Free Unlimited Data: TPG

May is pretty dang good to me. Finally, I got my little paws on the TPG sim card. This just basically means I have more data and can surf the net more. By right, I should be writing more :D which I hope I will be doing. Tummy still aint the best, have been spending more time at a clinic than I should really.

But, I am picking myself up in the midst of the discomfort and is extremely eager to revive this site now. (Woohoo!) For those who wants more data, go sign up for it too! It is free for a whole year (like what!) I missed it the last time, so I am super darn pleased I got it this time round :D

The collection place wasn't particularly out of the way and the queue wasn't exceptionally long (maybe cos it is a weekday). Plus the staff at Huawei were extremely helpful. Strongly recommend! With that much data at hand,  I hope you guys will enjoy the increase in content!
