Top Referrer for Huggies Refer a Friend Program (2021)

Ended the year on a pretty good note cos our little guy received a gift from Huggies. Apparently, we are once again crowned again the Top Referrer 2 years in a row straight. To be honest, it has been tough keeping up with the content, not just for Baby Talk but for our other series so any validation of our hard work is always welcomed.

Baby Talk is probably one of our most successful series. Am really happy that this series help parents and that there is such good traction. I am hoping my gardening series go smoothly too because being a plantrent is even harder. Am sure homeowners would appreciate any advice.

Merry X'mas: Wishtrend Listicle

I am notoriously known for being hard to please when it comes to gifts. So I think my listicle for skincare products should hold some weight. Here we go~~~keeping it sweet and sharp...so only 3 sets (which I have used and strongly advocate)!

For the girls who love a surprise... Sparkle Moments Box ($36)

We received one of these ourselves and we absoulely love it, especially since we are fans of Klairs products. In the box, you will find the popular Kairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner and the Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop ($16.10). Best of all, it even comes with a Popperoni Card which I am saving it because I am too scared to spoil the moment.

For the practical ladies... Klairs Hand Wash ($30) and Klairs Hand Cream ($30)

To keep Covid at bay, one of the recommendations is to wash your hand before eating or touching your face. We have tried out these 2 items and love how it mildly exfoliates your hand during a wash. If you have been to luxurious hotels, you would notice they would always put a hand cream at the side for your to moisturise your hands. Since you are washing your hands more now, it makes sense to give them the best and not dry them out. So gift your friends a set. It will be very handy and be used!

For the overworked mothers...Fundamental Eye Care Set ($34.30)

I use them myself and have recommended these to tired mothers. So far, I have managed to retain my "crowless-feet" eyes and I give the credit to these products. Our eyes is one of the indicators people use to determine our age. So, I always recommend mothers to take good care of their eyes (cos somehow we always overlook them). I assure you your Mummy friends will love them!

Behind the Wall by Gateway Arts

Here's something pretty meaningful for the educators, older kids and maybe even the adults.

Behind the Wall is basically a 30-mins film that provides a glimpse into the lives of the migrant workers (whom we take for granted). With a greater understanding and appreciation for them, hopefully this will hopefully in time help break away our stereotypical opinions towards them. To be quite honest, I have never spoken to a migrant worker myself and is guilty of being "frighten that they will rape me" (Like what the hell is wrong with me right?)

But I don' really want my child to grow up like me, so I do feel shows like this does help to educate them to be better people. The show is designed for children aged 5-12 so it is very light-hearted musical. The tunes were surprisingly catchy and I found myself bopping my head along.

Behind the Wall is a 30 mins film presented by Gateway Arts (which I am not entirely unfamiliar with) and their productions are really good. (It would have been better if we could watch it live!) From the backdrops, camera angles, and medium of expression (tik tok inspired to relate to the younger kids, handmade props to show the aerial view), I could see the effort taken to make this production

In my time, such shows were quite common and I remember watching them on tape (dead giveaway on my age LOL!) So, I really wanted my son (who is not even 5 to watch it). As you can see, he did enjoy it but because I screened it on my laptop, he was very distracted by my keypad and touchscreen. Tip: Screen it on TV instead.

After the show, there are also post-activities for the kids to do. The whole programme is best for kids aged 5 to 12, but you can just watch the show and not do the activities if your kids are younger or not ready for them. The programme will be avaialbel for public screening via SISTIC from 18-31 Dec. You can get your tickets here at $20!

The full synopsis can be found here and here's a trailer for you guys to have a teaser. For parents who have kids, you might be keen to check out the Arts Kids Club that provides weekly activities (on a Saturday). I am waiting for my kid to quickly grow up so that he can join in future. For kids who enjoy music and dance, there is also Little Hoppers which you can look out for!

Nuts about you: 2NutGuys

I might not have shared here, but my son loves his bread - fresh out the oven, toasted, he loves them all. Plain bread in my opinion is not very nutritious for a growing boy so I am always on the lookout for toast recipes or healthy spreads.

When 2NutGuys asked if I was keen to try out kids-friendly nutty spread, I jumped at the opportunity. Mummies who have been through the weaning journey would know that these little ones can't take sugar before 1, so when I tested my kid for nut allergies, I used those from Scoop wholefood.

The spread from  2NutGuys uses almond nuts which I find comparatively more moist and a lot yummier. However, in terms of price, it is slightly higher ($31.60 for 500g) than that at Scoop wholefood ($24.90 for 500g). .During my pregnancy, I had gestational diabetes (you can read about the diet here). My gynae then suggested sugarless nut spread (if I could take it). I didn't really bothered trying because I assumed I couldn't given my sweet tooth.

It was only my boy came and I ate his leftovers that I realise that sugarless nut spreads were pretty delicious because of their natural aromatic oil. Also, they were very healthy. My son really loves them too, and I would recommend them if your kid loves eating bread.

Baby also tried out their macadamia nuts and walnuts. I like that it is resealable so it quite good for playdates. Baby shared it with his friend. As of now, he only has 8 teeth in total but he is such a foodie that he would grind bits and pieces with his front teeth. The other kid (who has a full set of teeth) and us mummies ate most of it because it is yummy and we have more teeth. Haha and also because I tend to restrict him from eating too much flavourful food in a day.

Now, baby biscuits isn't as appealing to him because they taste rather plain so he craves more flavours. Personally, I prefer feeding my baby nuts and fruits because I think they are healthier and more natural. But that is me. 2NutGuys also has a laceration set for Mummies which I guess I will only review when we have a Baby #2 hehe.

Trying out more new products from Klairs

I think by now all of you will know that I am a fan of Klairs and is always trying out their products so that I have a better sense of what I like/ suits me. Once again, I am happy to share with you folks my thoughts as well so that you won't have to waste money on items that may not suit you.

I can't speak for everybody but Covid has made me a lot more conscious about hygiene and cleanliness. One of the items which is used quite heavily was the hand soap. And so I decided to give the hand soap a try. Wow, it is really good stuff. This is the first time I am using soap with a scrub micro-bits. However, it is rather drying so it works best with the moisturiser

You must be wondering why am I even putting moisturisers in the toilet. Haha, truth is I was inspired by all the hotels/ clubs' atas toilets. I noticed they always have a moisturiser by the side and it does make your hands feel softer after use. So I decided to bring the lux home. I have to say with a candle and moisturiser, my toilet has become one of my favourite places on Earth. Hehe.

So my experience with the The Ecru Clay Soap ($14.40) hasn't been that well (you can read my review here), so I decided to give Klairs  a try. So far I am liking it - it foams well and holds its shape better. Best of all, it is also cheaper too. Guess I am a Klairs girl after all hehe. This is definitely going into my repeated-buy list!

By the way, this is recommended for people with acne on their body. I am using it even though I don't have any. :)

Crazy Rich Asians - I went to Tanglin Club

And so I went to Tanglin Club for a Christmas dinner. A place for the wealthy and affluent and me...I squeezed a slot in as a guest. Haha. Just to shed some light, this is the membership requirement which I think I will never fulfill this lifetime.

Quite a case of got money also no use (entrance fee is a whooping S$100K), still need to know 2 members to nominate you. Like WHAT! But it is ok, I just need to experience the rich lifestyle once and I happy already. Haha.

Didn't even have the guts to take much photos because I was scared to be thrown out. It was a really nice and classy place - Old English Style. Actually I didn't even know how prestigious the place was - until I Googled on it...cos I wanted to bring my family there to try the food (cos the food was good) and take a photo of the Xmas tree with my son (Yes, I am not meant for the CRA life when my dreams are so, so humble LOL!)

We went for the Children's Biennale

To be quite honest, I have always been intrigued by the Children's Biennale but was too paiseh to go because it seems like an event for kids. Now that the little one has arrived, I seem to have more legitimate reasons to go. I invited my friends (who I haven't met) in a long while (no thanks Covid!) to join because 1 kid grants many adults legitimate access right? haha.

I am kidding. My friends wanted to meet kiddo outdoors and I thought an engaging place for him and an instagrammable place for us would be ideal. This place fits them all. Best of all, it is FREE! He is kinda of unpredictable and shows a lot more temper so there was a fair chance we might have to leave early so it is not really value for money if we visit more expensive attractions

We went on a weekend and it was not very crowded, guess there are other attractions out there that attracted more crowd. Most of the visitors were family (very safe I guess) and if you go on a weekday, you will meet "teenies wearing short skirt" according to the people at the museum. Guess they were pretty sick of them since they weren't even "appreciating the art piece". I did myself meet a girl tik-toking in front of the art and hmm...it was odd.

Each installation could only hold a certain number of people at any one time so there was still a bit of a queue. One of the installations that caught my eye on IG was the Head Home. They are made of cardboard pieces and the intricacy was mind-blowing. Zoom in and see if you can spot Garden By the Bay. In photos, it look awesome but in real life each piece isn't made to perfection. It is simply a case where many items make a huge impact. Don't miss this.

Admittedly, I don't really know what each exhibition is called. I missed "Conversations with an Octopus" but saw on IG later that many parents caught great photos there. We went instead to a sound exhibition when painting can be created using motions and sounds. The LO enjoyed it a little more at this station because he could interact with these exhibits more

Generally, I did find the Children's Biennale more suitable for the older kids. My boy could barely walk let alone hold a pen so he could only do stations that didn't require much pen work. Despite that, he did have fun because half the time he was just running around. National Gallery is quite a gorgeous place and he even went to take a peep at the more formal exhibit.

One of my favourite exhibit was this tent station. Every group/ family would be assigned a tent and each tent has some toys/ books for the child to play with. We picked a decent size one which was filled with cards. The dude obviously had no idea what they were for so he threw them around and play peek-a-boo. My friends and I hijacked some tents that the other kids grew bored off and took photos.

It is is quite a nice exhibit for the younger kids because the floor is well-carpeted and my boy could run around. I could also take a breather and exert less eye power, just for a while and have a bit of me/we time with my friends. After this, he pretty much went hyper and had a melt-down and that pretty much marked the end of the Museum visit. Had to coaxed him to sleep while my friends went shopping first. Sad Mum Life >_<
