Ultraman Collectibles from Coolplayfun

For the (wo)man child in everyone of us, rejoice if you are an ultraman fan because Coolplayfun has released 2 more characters collectibles for the Anime "ULTRAMAN" Die-Cast Action Figure product line. I am not sure if we are from the same gen but I did grow up with Ultraman so collecting items that I can recognise and have sentimental value is rather important to me.

Each figure is about 1/12 scale which is around 18cm in height, quite a nice height to fit a display cabinet but yet not too un-noticeable to be unable to see the details fully. There are currently 4 in total to pre-order by 30 Sep HERE so that you can receive your items by Feb/ Mar next year. The price range US$95 onwards which is still quite reasonable.

If you like paul frank, they also have a series for pre-order available. They have 3" , 8" and 24" but in different designs. 24" is only good if you have lotsa space in your house. Otherwise the 3" and 8" look pretty good for display. I am really excited for those as well esp. the blind boxes cos they are a lot smaller and easier to display. Hopefully, they can sell in smaller quantities because 100 blind boxes really a lot! Haha

Electric Toothbrush for Kids

I was initially quite hesitant about getting an electric toothbrush for the kiddo because I was worried the vibrations might be too strong and damage his teeth growth. We came across the Marcus & Marcus Kids 2-Min Timer Sonic Silicone Electric Toothbrush ($29.90) and it proved to be a good addition

There was a point our toddler was resisting toothbrushing. I am not sure why but somehow when they lose momentum (We gave him some slack when he fell down and hurt his lip, thinking there might be a hurting blister.), they just lose interest in teeth brushing. And I would have to come up with something snazzy all over again.

  1. Just like Mummy. I personally use an electric toothbrush myself. So I guess kiddo was really excited, probably thinking this is an adult moment that he is sharing the same sort of toothbrush as me. We would clink our toothbrushes (as though we are drinking), every time we brush our teeth.

  2. The vibrations are really gentle. And so, I am very approving of this. And it set at 2 minutes per use which prevents him from playing / brushing too long.

  3. The bristles are soft. In fact, they look more like gum cleaning pads. Kiddo seems to like it more than the bristled brushes and would allow me to clean his back teeth too!

  4. It is battery operated (1 AAA battery). I love battery operated brushes because I am so absent minded that I will misplace my charging wires. Especially when you are travelling overseas, batteries are easily replaceable

  5. The brush heads are replaceable. ($7.90) . For hygiene purpose, it is important to replace them and I don't want to keep buying the complete set!

  6. Kiddo really enjoy teeth brushing! And I think that's the most important reason. In fact I bought a rather cute looking (non-electric one) for use at our other home, but nope he is not interested in them at all. :'(

Umbra Joey Soap Dispenser Failed Me

I guess there is some truth that you should always take a physical look at items before purchasing them. I saw the Umbra Joey Soap Dispenser on Robinsons ($39.80) (Only Charcoal was available at that time). This is also a top seller on Umbra's website. When I got it, it was kinda of disappointing even though I had an additional 10% off using this discount code (ForFunk10)

I sort of had this expectation it would improve my sink's aesthetics. But it didn't. It is made of ceramic which means that it is heavy and breakable (thank god my toddler is not particularly interested in it.) Its little joey pouch was great for storing my mini brush but trapped water :'( I did change the sponge, is it why it doesn't look as good?

This is my only disappointment thus far, still really crazy about Umbra's products for its designs. Psss, so far Robinsons online store has the best discounts for them. And when you tap on my discount code - FORFUNK10, the price is basically unbeatable. Hehe.

Gem Rendezvous - Spark your Wellness

I am so sorry I am sharing the experience only so late. But there is always next year so keep a lookout for it. Personally, I was very interested in the Gem Rendezvous Festival because it was right smack in Little India (which I found intriguing already) and the workshops were pretty unique (mostly related to Gems).

The event runs from 17th June to 9 July. It would have been perfect to entertain the kids during their school holiday. There was a lot of Indian Cultural Elements and family-friendly workshop to entertain/ educate them.

As time was running short for me, I attempted to squeeze as much events I can in a day. Fellow parents, don't learn that from me because this defeats the purpose of having an enriching day. My toddler, like most, don't have that long attention span and it can be quite warm throughout the day. And also, sometimes it was just more fun to just explore the area

His day was spent enjoying some Chappati from the Five Stones Set Menu. The Butter Chicken was hell spicy. Haha! Love the vibes of the old building by the way. And he had lots of fun rock painting at the Gem Museum. He was also very impressed with the cows structures along the road, hence the many photos.

I guess our kid got our "artistic talent" because the husband and I also went for a 2-hours guided art session with Paint Blush. Oddly, when we were there, we decided we wanted to go free-style LOL! We were so inspired by Van Gogh (read our review here on their exhibition), we or maybe me wanted to replicate his more popular and famous pieces (rather unsuccessfully). Things only got fun when we realise we are no artists and no longer give any pucks.

I ended up using impressionism techniques while the husband actually mastered van gogh painting style. The artworks were horrendous but the session was strangely therapeutic. If you are into art jamming, Paint Blush is well furnished for your art endeavours and is the cheapest in town. Definitely a fun festival, I just wished I could tell you all about it earlier.

Food Tour 35: Yummy Food In Tanjong Pagar

Just to caveat, some of the food ain't exactly the cheapest. But they are pretty value for money. So here's go...for the people working/ living in the vicinity.

This is one of the 2 outlets in Singapore. I gave it a try because I was missing "Hei-Wan" and "Nine Fresh" too much for the grass jelly base. Somehow, these outlets have closed in the areas I always patron. If I remember correctly, this is the Taro Family Grass Jelly (S$8.50). Don't get me wrong, this is really yummy and full of ingredients. Great for sharing, but since I had it on my own, I found the price a little steep to curb a craving. And somehow, I don't find any differentiating factor between Beans.Factory and its competitors.

I went there because they had this $9.90 Special for their set lunch, but always end up spending more because their salmon miso soup  (S$3) is divine. There is lots of ingredients in it! So far, I have tried the lunch special twice. The black pepper one was meh, but the mayo one was pretty good. I probably would have went there more, but I am just mindful mayo is not the healthiest sauce in town and I really needa watch my weight. One of the 2 outlets in Singapore, so you can give it a try too

This was half the Cubahno at $19.50. For 1 person, it is quite hefty. To be honest, I only ate half for lunch and I am stuffed. I took the other half home for dinner. It is really delicious and I do see myself coming back for more. Sadly, there is no set options. So everything is ala-carte. Initially, I wanted to add some fries, but the cashier was kind enough to tell me I can't finish everything haha!

A place to share a meal... They do have a few outlets and I heard that each outlet has their own specials!

Smartbulbs for the home

Just so you guys know, although I have a whole series on Homemaking, it is pretty much my self exploring reflections on the latest gadgets and novelty items in town. I have been extremely interested in coloured bulbs for the longest time. But...my house is not a smarthome. So a part of me always wondered if I could incorporate smartbulbs without a hub.

I did the plunge and tried out with Switchbot Colour bulbs. First of all, you need to know that bulbs have apparently different screw size. This is a E27. Robinsons sold it at $26 (cheapest in town) and I got another 10% off on top of the sales price for using the discount code "FORFUNK10"! Super dope!

Not the most IT savvy person, but I managed to install the app and sync my bulbs without even looking at any guides. You have option of managing both bulbs together, or controlling them separate. Zoom in and you can tell I am actually using different bulb colours. (Cos I like it). There is a huge variety of colours to play with. The kid and I have fun!

It is not entirely the most ground-breaking when it comes to home improvements but it gives the home "more colours" literally. Switching the lights on and off with your phone is definitely useful. The whole system taps on the app and wifi. We paid less than 50 bucks for this, which is really quite a steal :D

No regrets for sure! On a side note, Robinsons does have pretty good prices especially when you use the discount code "FORFUNK10" Not bias, cos even I use it myself.
