Hair Free with Skin Health Aesthetics

Although I am not a wolf woman of any sort, I always like being somewhat hairless. Society has somewhat decided that the armpits of a women should always be hairless. Also, given that my hubby is naturally blessed with smooth, hairless arms, there is pressure on me to moisture and smoothen myself as well.

There are many chain-store offering full-body hair removal. But if you are looking for something more affordable, I just might have the place you are looking for. Skin Health Aesthetics is conveniently located near Toa Payoh MRT station.

Not being one of the chain stores also mean better prices, catered services and more time slots available. Skin Health Aesthetics would always drop you a reminder sms one day before the treatment without fail and it was definitely much easier to reach them if you need to re-arrange the appointment timing.

For me, an important criteria is the cleanliness of the store. You would be pleased to hear that the area is very hygienic and the towels will be cleaned and sheets changed after every customer. Pss, apart from body hair removal, Skin Health Aesthetics also offer other facial services, making a good one stop place for all your beauty needs.

I did 6 treatments at Skin Health Aesthetics in total. I wouldn't say that the standard is consistent all the beauticians. But one thing I really like about them is they know what they are doing and keep the processes fast so that it can end on time and I can go home to nap. Haha.

Generally, the ladies are quite chatty and would engage you in banter unless of course you would prefer to take a rest. Your comfort is always their priority and they would always check in with the temperature of the machine and the air-con with you without fail.

After 6 treatments, here are some of my results to show. I did my leg, arms, armpits and back. My armpits and back only have little to no hair, so there is not much difference. The treatment was however, very effective on my arms and legs. Not that much hair now!

Although I think I didn't think I cared that much about my hair, I think after having them all removed. I actually do feel a lot more conscious about the hair and feel that sometimes it can be unsightly. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience at Skin Health Aesthetics and would really recommend you guys to try out their Full Body Hair Removal Treatments. 6 times and you see results already! WOW!

Review: Skinny Dipping with Braun Silk Epil 7

Braun Silk Epil 7
Cos I wanted to go skinny dipping so I got a Braun epilator. This is not the latest model, but during its time, it was dope! Never ever tried this method of hair removal, but I have read, heard about it and one of my friend even uses it. I didn't see her use it but her skin is really smooth. We are guessing it is the epilator and a good moisturizer at work?
So good for me, I got to test it out and guess what, I actually kinda like it. My favourite is still IPL cos it is more permanent. Epilating is a little like waxing. It rips the hair out. I know I am using the word "rip", it is not really that painful. Either that, you sort of get use of the pain. For beauty, what's a little nip!
Braun
My only grouse is that the manual is not very informative. Wait, hold on, you read the manual?!? Yeah, I did cos of the many parts of the epilator and I didn't really want to spoil it. But because it didn't have the information I was looking for, I ended up just using my brain to figure it out *Sounds extremely reluctant to put that big head into use*
The different parts are useful in the sense it can better suit the different parts of your body. But for me, I just the same one cos I am too lazy to change it. The Silk Epil 7 is relatively water-proof so you can use it during shower. I find it more effective to use it on dry skin though.
Leg Hair Jokes
Spoiling every guy's fantasy of Ariel. HAHAHA~
My final verdict
  1. IPL - Permanent
  2. Epilator - Less Painful then waxing and the procedure is simpler - work it like shaver. It still leave some short hair though. Doesn't take too much concentration and you can do it in your own comfort. Multi-tasking is also made possible since it ain't that much of a dangerous tool. It really can't rip your skin out.
  3. Wax - Painful, but it get rids a good deal of the hair.
  4. Shaving - I don't use this method at all, cos the blades would destroy my sensitive leg skin. It removes even the short-hair.

Review: Go hairless with Faceworks

The nicest tuft of hair is grown on the head. Anywhere else, you may consider to rid them. Especially for ladies, the armpits and lower legs should be hair-free cos the society deems it as visually appealing.
Looks aside, hair traps sweat and dirt and thus allowing growth for bacteria. It is an hygiene issue. And so, sometimes women just get rid the (hair) root of the problem all together given that there are so many methods to do so. IPL, waxing, shaving etc.

Today, I will share a bit more on IPL. In my opinion, it is the fastest and most efficient way to remove hair. Shaving is of course, the most painless method. But it is non-permanent and repetitive. I am allergic to some razor baldes so I don't use this method. Waxing is more painful and it leaves ingrown hair but it is faster and hair growth is slower.
IPL by far is the best method cos it best of both. The hair grown after each session becomes finer and soon you will pretty much be hairless! :) You lie there and see flashes of light through the air as your therapist work on the specific body parts.
Faceworks
I visited Faceworks for 4 sessions of Lower Leg IPL. The exterior of the place is clean and professional looking. I was serviced by the senior therapist, Angie. As mentioned earlier, I am allergic to the razor blades. So every time the blade graze my leg, it would leave pesky patches of rash. Angie noticed it after the first treatment and from then on applied aloe vera to sooth those areas.
I quite like the fact they are very customer focus. Even when Angie was not around for 1 of my session, the other therapist would also be aware of my condition and not shave too closely to my skin for the fear or irritating it. P.S. you need to shave a little as IPL doesn't work on overly long hair.
IPL
The treatment room is small but really cosy. There is however no locker to put your stuff. The shaver used are disposable! Yeah, it is kinda gross if you have to use somebody's old shaver. I would catergorise Faceworks as a no frills palour. There is no hard sales but yet there is no compromisation on customers service.
I received reminders for my next appointments. And compared to more established firms, Faceworks is more flexible to changing of appointment time and there is no penalty for it. Their aftercare service is fantastic as well. Angie followed up on my rashes the next day and was always showed concern over my subsequent visits.
Wallpaper
Not going to show any photos of my legs cos they are not the confident parts of my body. They are tree trunks that bruise easily. The hair WILL grown finer and the hair growth WILL be slower. There is a lot less maintenance and less resistance to kick the boyfriend if he tries to caress my leg. I don't like people touching the pricks when the hair just grows. :P
For my readers only, if you live at Bukit Timah (Beauty World Centre), you are in luck. Faceworks is offering:
  1. 20% on all IPL treatments
  2. IPL Skin rejuvenation facial treatment at $28 only for first time customers!!!
**IPL is not suitable for pregnant ladies, customers with dark skin tone/skin disease and cancer patients. IPL treatments are permanent unless changes in hormones e.g. pregnancy!
