23/03/2015 marks the day of a terrible loss of Singapore. Our founding father, Mr Lee passed away. These few days, the media was posting a lot of his stories and his achievement - how he made Singapore from a mud-flats to a metropolitan. A "First World Oasis in a Third World Region"
LHL is more of a leader of my time, but I remember this fearful man as the one who banned chewing gums simply cos "If you can't think because you can't chew, try a banana". An outspoken man who has never been afraid to speak out the hard truth, Mr Lee has been "accused of many things in my life, but not even my worse enemy has accused me of being afraid to speak my mind."
Most of the media are using these words of him to mark his dedication to the progress of Singapore. Somehow, there was a bitter sweet emotion as I read it. As I read more of his quotes, I just felt more ashamed of myself at my inadequacy. In comparison, I seemed not not have made any mark in my own life - just pooping, eating, sleeping like any other mortal.
Decided to make a compilation of some his quotes that I sort of resonate with. He is quite a witty man, I have to say. Some of his speeches made me chuckle so much. He will be sorely missed.
Less Bright People having to support more dumb in the next generation
If I decided something is worth doing, I'll put my heart and soul to it. The whole ground can be against me, but if I know it's right, I'll do it.
Wrong ideas have to be challenged before they influence public opinions and make for problems
And finally, I thought I wanted to end off with this picture. He and his wife had a really romantic lovely story. We don't have any royalties in Singapore. But this one story is befitting of what we would term as a "royal love story".
I just wish when I am old and wrinkly, I am also blessed enough to have someone by my side to make sure I eat my medicine, sooth me when I am choking in my phlegm and hold my hand just on a normal day. Sigh....
