Sample Store First Beauty Show

Hello people, for the first time, we will be having a guest post. Hehe. And it is none other from my Mum. Yeap, that's because I am busy with school assignments. So she stand in for a few of my events. :D

Dear readers, I am Chaa's mummy. Chaa was very busy with school assignments that week so I stood in to attend Sample Store's first every Beauty Show on her behalf. It was lonely without Chaa because usually we would support Sample Store events together. 

Unlike the previous events we attended, the vendors that day do not sell any of their products. You needed to go online to purchase them. When I send Chaa the photos, she immediately asked about Mollifix. She was disappointed she couldn't get them under Mummy's expense. Heng never 破财！

This daughter of mine did not tell me that there would be so many 明星 there. I don't know that they are the contestants for SING!China Season 2 Singapore Selections. I saw many people trying to get their signature. I just followed suit. :)

My favourite segment was the makeup demo by Candy Tiong. It was very informative and I considered buying some of the products she used. I do feel younger and more in tune after learning about the beauty trends and meeting the 明日之星！

Despite being a little outdated, I recognised the host - Hossan Leong. Hossan was very witty and injected a lot of humour. I don't usually like to take photo. Since Hossan was very friendly and I managed to find a kind passer-by to help me take a photo, I decided to make an exception.

When I was home, Chaa asked me why it wasn't a selfie. I wanted a clear photo and usually the resolution for the front camera is poorer. Chaa seems very impressed with my knowledge on phone photography. Doesn't she know I have observed her enough to pick up a skill or 2?

To make her feel poorly that she has missed this interesting event, I even took my first food photo and sent it to her. The food by Carnivore Brazilian Churrascaria at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands looks good and taste good.

Chaa was very annoyed she didn't get to try the food, but that's just too bad. She did comment that I have some skills in food photography. Another thing she doesn't know is that her brother can in fact take better photos than her. I have also learnt some techniques from the young man. Mums can be very talented too!

Since I went on her behalf, I got her goodie bag too. For the first time, I have the first pick of the products I wanted. :) I pitied her so I gave her the notebook which looked like the envelope so that she can write her homework in it. 

Hossan shared with us that the Destino Advance Repairing Soap from Beauty Keeper is very effective, so I am looking forward to using it. Maybe it will make me look 10 years younger. :) I hope you enjoy reading the review. 

Christmas Version: Top 3 Products of Beauty Keeper

Now that I have tried out some of the products from Beauty Keeper gifted on Giftopia, I will now share with you my Top 3 favourite products in their box. If you would like to try them out, you can visit their website as they are on sale there as well. :)

1. Minorca Ideal Flawless Beauty Cushion

By now, it is really no secret that this is my favourite product in the box. Any time you see my face with make-up, I am using this foundation. I like it cos it provides really good coverage. It is quite easy to apply even for a novice like me. Even without a powder to finish and set it, I think it still look very good.

Maybe it is because I have no particular preference for foundation as long as it covers the uneven shade and makes my skin looks flawless. Haha. Plus, despite being rather fair, it is of my shade. :D

2. Camellia Essential Intensive Hair Oil

The thing about curls, it is really a lot harder to maintain. And so for the first time in my life, I actually had hair tangles. Of course, it didn't happen overnight. For a month or so, I slacken on my conditioner and even didn't bother to comb my hair. My hair tangles were so bad my Dad actually asked me to cut my hair. But I didn't want to cos this meant that the curls would be cut off too.

So, I ransacked the Beauty Keeper Box and decided to try out the hair oil since there is nothing to lose really. And 3 days later, still without conditioner but I combed my hair once a day, my curls revived. :D

Generally, my hair responds very well to oil. So I can't entirely be sure how much the Camellia Essential Intensive Hair Oil played a part in it. But I like the product for its sweet, olive smell and its small packaging. Comparatively to other hair oil products in the market, it is a lot more portable and easier to slip in the bag.

The price however is on the steep side so I use it sparingly. And it doesn't help that my thirty hair keeps absorbing the oil at an exorbitant rate. But I have to say, it does provide a nice shine to my hair and gave more bounce to my hair. Is it the power of hair oil or just this particular hair oil? I really don't know, at least it saved my locks from a tangled mess.

3. Eyes Light

So this year was not a year where my beauty and health basically took a bad toll, too much stress maybe. I was thought my waist was the most beautiful part of me, and then it accumulated a protected ring of fats. So I decided my dimple was my best feature and then I lost my smile and it grew less defined. I then moved on to my expressive eyes, since I am always proud of how little eye wrinkles I have.

And then, the crow eyes slowly became more visible. It was as though every thing I like about myself would crumble against the test of time. Maybe I should just like my belly button (And then it will get dirty.) I only tried the Eyes Light cos I heard it was good. And it is really not bad. It made my weary eyes looked less tired and contained the wrinkles. My only grouse was that it squirts out too much product at each pump. Grr.

Coincidentally, I realized my favourite products are the same as the popular at Beauty Keeper. Hehe. I still have some products I have yet to tried. Will comment on them maybe next month. I only got one face la. I can't possibly try that many at a go right! Must finish one by one especially if they are of the same function.

LOTD: Bridemaid Peacock

A lot of people told me I looked pretty on point that day, so I am going to dedicate a post all to myself, from head to toe literally. :P

Let's start off first with the nice hairdo. I wanted to use this opportunity to try out something, so that maybe I can use it for my own ROM next time. The theme of the bridemaids coincidentally was braids. Braids are really beautiful on long hair <3

The photo on the left was what I showed the hairstylist. I think she did a pretty good job replicating it for S$30. My Dad said the hairstyle suited me cos I had a big head (-_-) The hairstylist thought it was a good choice since I was in a halter. Personally, I love it cos it is a nice change. But I have a very thick head of hair. Halfway as we were preparing the registry table, my hairdo actually collapsed.

I ran out the hall barefooted back to the hairstylist, and banging into my BF of all people. (T.T) Told him I was pretty bummed cos I wanted to show off a pretty me to him. And he caught me hair all messy again, like always. He said it was fine, looks great regardless. In the end, my hair was held up by 20 pins. LOL and I had to do a headshake to test the robust-ness. The hairstylist even chided me to be more demure.

Make-up of the day: The theme in my very humble opinion was peacock and the pea-hens. Haha.

Mascara: ZA Killer Volume Mascara (One of my fav mascara, cos it is cheap and good)

Scent: Silky Girl French Flower (light, floaty fragrance. Mmmm... Silky Girl is also another one of the cheap,good brands)

Eye Liner: Kate Slim Eye Pencil (My friend gave it to me cos I didn't have any at the moment. Usually I would use Silky Girl. My friend said this wasn't good for oily eyelids, but it worked well for me. Only grouse, it couldn't retract back.)

Make-up Brushes: The Body Shop (There was a time I was so mad about the shop. All my cosmetics came from there. Haha. Think it is really important to invest in a good set because you use it for a long time.)

Lipstick: Etude House Bright Pink and Crazy Rumors Hibiskiss. The pink is really bright initially but it fades to a nice hue after a while. I match it a shiny lipbalm so that I look kissable. Haha.

Ok, one of the make-up item I really wanted to highlight was the Minorca Ideal Flawless Beauty Cushion Mousse. I got it from the Beauty Keeper Box during Giftopia but it is retailing as well at Beauty Keeper's website. Usually, I use powder foundation, but this cream coverage is really good.

I forgot to bring my concealer that day. But there was really not much to conceal after using this cushion mousse. I wasn't really having that high an expectation for it. But the colour was really close to our Asian shade making it look au natural and provided great coverage. :D Really love this!

My dress of the day - Stalker's Beware is from Missa More. And yes, it is a sexy piece with a slight all the way up to the thigh. I think my thighs are pretty thick, but the cutting makes it look slimmer because it hides a portion of my legs. Haha. The material is flowy so it doesn't need much ironing to still look picture-perfect. FYI, I shove the dress into my bagpack. But flowy materials does make the wearer fat at certain angles. My Mum's advice: wear a belt to tighten the waist area, so it will accentuate the hour-glass figure. I didn't do so though so I did look a little pregnant in some photos.

The openings at the side of the dress was a bit revealing, but I managed to change to a smaller size. Thank you owner for being so nice to meet me :D If you want to make the side cuttings narrower, what I did was roll up the top and create a thicker collar look :D (2 for the price of 1). You can get yours at Missa More too. They have many elegant pieces at really affordable prices and their website is pretty easy to navigate too!

True to my dress' name, I really got a stalker. LOL! Lastly, my gladiator boots are from River Island. Have it for a pretty long time already. This wasn't supposed to be my heels for the day, will share on my heels in a separate post. But I didn't want to spoil my new heels at the railway. Haha.
