Delightful Desserts with Cake Avenue

Hi guys, if you are wondering how come the photos look really different for this post, it is because I lost all the photos I took on the event itself (T.T) I hope you guys have been following my instagram cos I did at least posted them up there.

But fortunately, I do remember the taste of each and everything. You may have heard of Cake Avenue for their designer cakes, but not be familiar with their dessert menu and their savory Christmas set. (includes free delivery)

I thought I should start off with the Christmas set first since X'mas is coming and you guys may be sourcing for vendors to buy your x'mas party goodies!

Set A (4-6pax) - $72.00
Braised Lamb Shank (2x 450g)
Assorted Canapés 16pc (Salmon, Tuna and Egg Mayo)
Roasted Vegetables
+ Complimentary Nacho chips and sauces (early bird freebie for bookings before 9 Dec)

Set B (4-6pax) - $67.00
Chicken Lasagna
Assorted Canapés 16pc (Smoked Salmon, Tuna and Egg
Mayo)
Roasted Vegetables
+ Complimentary Nacho chips and sauces (early bird freebie for bookings before 9 Dec)

The main difference between the 2 sets are the Chicken Lasagna (Ala-Carte Price: S$32) and Braised Lamb Shank(Ala-Carte Price: S$38). In fact, for my own party, I would have topped up with a separate Chicken Lasagna so that my guests can try both. But my mum made a pretty good point that Chicken Lasagna was more universal. :)

For an additional $100, you could add on a Reindeer cake (Ala-Carte Price: S$112.50), which is absolutely Instagram worthy! If you are on a tighter budged, you might want to get the Chocolate Fudge Yule Log ($45 for 1 Kg). My Mum absolutely loved its thick chocolate. If your guests is into tiny bite sampling, you can get them as Entremets at $5.90 each. Trust me, like everything tiny, they look incredibly adorable.

If your guests have a sweet tooth, there are additional desserts they may get. I think that the cakes are more impressive. But I would make special shout-outs to the jelly-cups and Macarons.

  • Jelly Cups (9pcs)- $45.00
  • Mini Brownies (12pcs)- $18.00
  • Mini Fruit Tarts (12pcs)- $18.00
  • Mini Chocolate Tarts (12pcs)- $18.00
  • Macarons (12pcs)- $24.00

If you missed their Christmas set, fret not cos they have a series of creations on their dessert menu that mimics main entries like burgers, fries, soup etc. Because they look so real, it actually got my brain a little confused. My tongue was expecting savoury but the food were sweet. Hahaha.

I tried everything on the dessert menu apart from the drinks. (Yes, I am probably diabetic cos of you guys T.T) They are very, very instagram worthy, cos they are realistically cute. If you come with a group of friend, you probably can give everything a try. Otherwise, you may follow my recommendations. :D

If you only have space for 2, try the Diner Sliders and Fries (S$15.90). I love it cos the beef patty is actually chocolate. One thing I note about Cake Avenue, their chocolate is super thick and yummy. For me, I like it without the sauce. But it is kinda of fun to squeeze them on.

The Nachos Dulces (S$12.90) are highly irresistible. I never knew they tasted so good with Chocolate. In fact, I think it might be even better than Cheese. It comes with ice-cream on top. But, I preferred it with a drizzle of chocolate a lot. mmm...yum...good orgasm. :P

If you prefer something warmer and pops in your mouth, I would suggest the Lava Pops (S$8.90). It is an interesting sweet potato taste (not sweet potato by the way), with cheesy vanilla filling. You would need to eat it when it is hot to enjoy its full flavour. The Great Con Dog (S$8.90) is a good dessert if you like custard and want some ice-cream to go along.

Just in case, you think I love everything on the menu, I actually don't. I had very high expectations on the Alphabet Soup (S$8.90). But it just didn't work for me. It was just too sweet. With a bit of modification, it may become a "hot favourite" (no pun intended.)

So I missed out the drinks totally, and it was sad cos I love unicorns T.T Guess that's a reason for me to go there again. Hahaha. The drinks are all at S$7.90 each. Pretty affordable huh. For a specialty cake shop, their savoury food was actually very good. I also noticed on the menu, they had normal mains such as salad, pasta etc.

I haven't try them yet, but do tell me if it is really good. Cake Avenue is a lot more convenient who live in the west. But fret not, cos they do provide deleiery service if you live in the east and need some party snacks and pastry! :D

Say What?! Salted Egg Potato Chips

Unabashedly, the best thing that happened this Easter apart from the long weekend (hey that happens every year!) is this savory picnic basket of snacks! And yes, I am very, very obsessed with anything with salted egg. So if there are any new salted egg product in town, ForFunk has to make sure we tell you first-hand!
The picnic box was so beautifully curated that I had a hard time thinking whether to just get snacks out first or spend some time taking some photos! So does it taste as good as it looks? Yea, it sure does.
Presenting the Easter Surprise of the year, it is the crunchy, spicy and so damn shiok Say What?! Salted Egg Potato Chips from the household brand Tip Top Curry Puff. The name is quite a mouthful. But once you taste the chips, you will surely make sure you keep those mouth full! (hahaha)
It comes in a resealable packaging which you probably don't need because once you start, you can't really stop. It is just that addictive. And like all egg yolk products, it is very sinful. :'( The only silver lining - hey, no preservatives added. All the more must finish it up while it is fresh!
Each piece is handmade, that's why no 2 chips are alike. But one thing I really appreciate was their generosity. The chips are thick cut and 100% russet potatoes! A thick layer of salted egg was also pread on each and every piece of chips! It was so good I woke up in the middle of night to snack on the other packet! (T.T)
Personally, I like my salted egg with a tiny bit of spice. And this was a perfect blend of spice, saltiness and crunchiness. I even dabbed bread, cookies, chips on the left-over salted crumbs. In fact, I think I may be suffering from withdrawal symptoms.
Like all addicts, we are sure to spread the addiction! Stock is highly limited so head down to the Tip Tip Outlets and your very own pack at S$7 each (cheaper than another brand) to savour it for yourself. For bulk orders, you can e-mail saywhat@allbestfoods.com.sg
And just to make your Easter a whole lot better, present this post and you will get a free curry puff of your choice with every purchase of a packet of Say What?! salted egg potato chips. #WinLiao

Snacks4Me, I am hungry!

We have another subscription box this time round from Snacks4Me. And oh yum, I really love this. Snackaholics alert! In fact, when I first saw the box of deliciousness, I was like thinking: Heck fruits day, Let's have weekly snacks boxes!!
Of course, not everything suited my taste. But a good 50% of the items left my tummy and rational mind feeling okay gaining the extra calories. Some of these snacks can't even be found off the shelf in our local market!!! T.T
Snacks4Me
Before any of you faints at the amount of snacks, this is an accumulation of 2 boxes worth of snacks not 1. But nonetheless, each box consists a variety of chips, crisps, crackers, candies, chocolates, cookies, biscuits, cakes, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, dried fruits and vegetables, carefully sourced from trusted producers around the world to bring to your doorstep.
So who is this awesome Snacks4Me? I like to think of them as snack-hunters who have the most exquisite tastebuds. They will search through various parts of the world to present a carefully curated box of snacks that will surprise our palette with the most intriguing tastes! But best of all, they have a shop that let you buys the snacks that you love!
Tokyo Banana Crunch Chocolate
Okay, you may or may not share the same taste with me but I am going to recommend you the 3 must-try. Of course I would like to suggest more. But it just seems kinda of ridiculous to recommend so many. Or does it? =D
If you are a huge fan of the Tokyo Banana, you totally cannot miss this Tokyo Banana Crunch Chocolate. It is like a mini, crunchier version of the Tokyo Banana. Personally, I felt it was way more worth the hype than the Tokyo Banana (I thought the Tokyo Banana was so-so only even though my friends worship it *Roll Eyes*). But this Tokyo Banana Crunch Chocolate is freaking awesome. Maybe because I don't like soft cake textures! But this is a definite must-try. Beware though as you are bound to crave for more!
Seafood Tempura Crackers
Had a really deciding between #2 and #3, but I decided the Seafood Tempura Crackers should be #2 cos my family simply adored it, especially my Dad. Actually, this subscription came in Feb, but Feb was CNY and there are already so much snacks so I thought let's just push it till Mar or something, since Feb is filled with too much calories. But guess what, Dad secretly opened it and munched it all up. He left 3 pieces for the rest of us. :(
A snack that caused so much heartbreak! Every one was pissed with my Dad for it. It tasted so addictive and I only had one miserly piece to savor the taste. So why did all hell break lose for this Seafood Tempura Crackers? The seawood just went so well with the crispy crackers! It is like a Japanese Ko-ro-poh! Don't miss this. But remember to hide it from your family!!!
Yellow Rhapsody
I don't think this is for everybody so I ranked in 3rd. Mustard is quite an acquired taste. For a mustard lover, I am impressed with such a snack cos OMG I have never seen any mustard snack in the market. But personally, I felt that the snack could do with more mustard powder. Spam the mustard, the stronger the taste, the better. My Mum however was like "bleh". So I guess that's why it is #3. But this is really quite exotic so give it a try if you feeling adventurous.
For those of you who are interested in the snacks, I suggest you test out the taster box or 1 time subscription box first to find out what you like. After that, you can go onto the online shop and just buy all your favourite snacks! Let them do the sourcing and we do the snacking, I am sure after gouging yourself, you will agree with me, all pantries should be loaded with Snacks4Me!!!

Nuffnang Lovin’ Christmas Countdown Part 2: Christmas Party Snacks with Ayam Brand

Yeah, I guess this year X'mas just came early today. Was invited by Nuffnang to join fellow bloggers to learn and feast on some Christmas snacks made using Ayam brand products.
Food Playground
I was actually feeling pretty excited because I wanted to go down to Food Playground for the longest time. And as what many bloggers have raved, it is really indeed a very casual kitchen for you to hone your culinary skills. The BF will probably be glad that I have finally re-learned the proper way to hold the knife (pretty much stopped cooking after I came back from overseas *gives sheepish look*)
I know my chef hat looks terrible. Sian, I have really no artistic talent in me.
Food PlaygroundI learned a total of 3 recipes from the great masters who taught us with great enthusiasm. And I can now flaunt them during any gathering or parties I host. The Christmas Barley Salad was particularly easy and considering I am a salad lover, I think I am probably going to prepare this dish quite often.
The Chilli Tuna Curry Puffs are a little tougher, will probably wait for the occasion to call for it to be presented HAHA. Mummy can't wait for me to start doing my Vietnamese spring rolls ;P
FP_Ayam
And to my team, thank you so much for helping with all the tedious preparation work. Honestly, I am so bad at cooking, I can only do all the easy tasks. Kinda of paiseh about it, even though I am silent about it. *Awkward Grins*
I will practice harder and the next time you see me in a cooking event, you know I am bringing home the big prize for you *Smiles*
Group Presentation
This isn't magic, but with the same food, these are the dishes the other groups came out with. I can't stress the importance enough on food presentation. All my friends are always bemused and irritated by how long I can spend arranging my food. But seriously, it can either make it or break it. Sigh, you guys just don't get it do you? LOL!
At least now you do :P

Thank you really Ayam Brand and Nuffnang and Food Playground (my bf wants to thank you too), cos you guys have sparked a little flame for cooking (the fiery little passion growing each day)! I thought I liked cooking but I didn't know I love it so much Haha!
With all my stash of products, I think I will be experimenting cooking. Geez, hopefully this don't become a food blog soon.LOL!
Signing off with a lovely group photo :)

P.S: Probably heading down to Food Playground soon with an army of coy people or BF :)
