Sprezza Box Again: Premium

So, I got a sprezzabox again for the Hubs for our anniversary cos I came across a discount code. Some changes to take note, there is now the premium version which has less, but better items in it. Since this was something new and the hubs is a bit more quality conscious, I decided to go for it. Plus, he always needed a cufflink. I thought there might be more use for this box of goodies.

As compared to the previous experience, the shipment was delayed this time round. I bought it for our Aug anniversary but it only came in Sep. Guess it is a Sep anniversary present. Also, I kept writing in to sprezzabox. Although they were quite prompt in their replies, they weren't able to confirm anything and sometimes doesn't even really answer my question. To be honest, I sort of gave up ever receiving the box. Lol.

Quality-wise, I am very satisfied with the purchase. Of course, whether the receiver likes it is a whole separate thing. I took particular interest in the cufflink and was happy to see that it even had details at the back. Not that the Hubs will even notice. Guess now, all I have to do is to hide the box. Hehe.

Sprezza Box: Houston Box

The Christmas gift for the hubby finally arrived. I paid around S$25 for a SprezzaBox (price inclusive of shipping because of the use of a discount coupon) and I think it is quite worth it. The hubby didn't really like everything in the box, but for what he liked and placed a value on, it ended up to be more than S$25. So good buy, I guess. :)

We received the Houston Box and it contains
  1. Plaid Necktie ($45): He is wearing it for the next wedding. So I think he likes it.
  2. Valet Tray ($30): It is his favourite in the box and he is using it already.
  3. Socks ($10): He is not much of a socks person, but he is always happy to have a pair of extra socks.
  4. Shoelaces ($10): No special liking for it, but the thinks it will come in handy someday.
  5. Wine aerator ($5): This is for me :P
  6. Nail Clipper ($4): We used to share one and now he has his own I guess.
If you are interested in getting one for yourself, you can google online for some discount code. It is a subscription box, but if you cancel immediately, you will get one box at an amazing discount. :P

Man Talk: Bundies of Joy

To be a little more fair, I decided to work on some posts for male readers as well (cos I am sure there are male readers right?!?) So today is quite an intimate topic for you guys...caring about your bum hahaha.

Personally, I was always felt that in terms of fashion/ apparels especially, the market for the males seem to be a bit smaller and doesn't really break much of the mould. It is boring and over-priced. (This is told to me by a male and I agree!)

When I came across Bundies, I thought that I really had to share this! Because they have a subscription box for male undies. I have came across many subscription for the women - period boxes, apparels rental boxes, accessories boxes etc. But male undies, wow, this is novel stuff.

So, Bundies have trunks and boxers available for the men. Most the guys I am closer to wear briefs. So I was a bit clueless about these 2...and I did some research on my own. For women who are buying the men their inner beauty, listen up! To put it simply, trunks provide more support and is sleeker (good for the day) while boxers are airy and less restricted (better for the night!)

Aesthetically, I found these undies attractive. I mean there are so much details to it (prints, and coloured linings for the block-coloured trunks). But my bro told me, men don't go totally for design. It is more important to be comfortable. So the men I know put these underwear to the test.

As there is a bit more fabric than what they are normally used to, they initially thought that it might be a little warm. But because the material was thin and soft, Bundies was surprisingly comfy. My Dad prefer the plainer designs but my Bro (I guess with youth comes more openness), he said some prints and designs was good variation. And both of them were happy to try out boxers and trunks in future instead of briefs given similar comfort level!

But, the both of them weren't too keen on subscriptions because they don't change undies every 2 months (LOL!) and would buy as and when required. And fortunately, Bundies sell single pieces as well. This is good for gifting too given that they come in nice zip-locked bags. The bag can be recycled to put your manly cosmetics when traveling!

For Ladies only: Just a secret between me and you, I have actually tried boxers before. And they actually make very good shorts. But you probably need to get it 1-2 sizes bigger. (I like them loose and comfy!) You can get your very own from Bundies too. The designs are a lot better than those available out there!

And with that, this is the end of our first man-targeted review. Please do let us know if you would like style (with the men's perspective)! I know the women are always very interested in the men's gifting post (You know, it is not that easy to shop for a man ok, women don't have it easy!)

Snacks4Me, I am hungry!

We have another subscription box this time round from Snacks4Me. And oh yum, I really love this. Snackaholics alert! In fact, when I first saw the box of deliciousness, I was like thinking: Heck fruits day, Let's have weekly snacks boxes!!
Of course, not everything suited my taste. But a good 50% of the items left my tummy and rational mind feeling okay gaining the extra calories. Some of these snacks can't even be found off the shelf in our local market!!! T.T
Snacks4Me
Before any of you faints at the amount of snacks, this is an accumulation of 2 boxes worth of snacks not 1. But nonetheless, each box consists a variety of chips, crisps, crackers, candies, chocolates, cookies, biscuits, cakes, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, dried fruits and vegetables, carefully sourced from trusted producers around the world to bring to your doorstep.
So who is this awesome Snacks4Me? I like to think of them as snack-hunters who have the most exquisite tastebuds. They will search through various parts of the world to present a carefully curated box of snacks that will surprise our palette with the most intriguing tastes! But best of all, they have a shop that let you buys the snacks that you love!
Tokyo Banana Crunch Chocolate
Okay, you may or may not share the same taste with me but I am going to recommend you the 3 must-try. Of course I would like to suggest more. But it just seems kinda of ridiculous to recommend so many. Or does it? =D
If you are a huge fan of the Tokyo Banana, you totally cannot miss this Tokyo Banana Crunch Chocolate. It is like a mini, crunchier version of the Tokyo Banana. Personally, I felt it was way more worth the hype than the Tokyo Banana (I thought the Tokyo Banana was so-so only even though my friends worship it *Roll Eyes*). But this Tokyo Banana Crunch Chocolate is freaking awesome. Maybe because I don't like soft cake textures! But this is a definite must-try. Beware though as you are bound to crave for more!
Seafood Tempura Crackers
Had a really deciding between #2 and #3, but I decided the Seafood Tempura Crackers should be #2 cos my family simply adored it, especially my Dad. Actually, this subscription came in Feb, but Feb was CNY and there are already so much snacks so I thought let's just push it till Mar or something, since Feb is filled with too much calories. But guess what, Dad secretly opened it and munched it all up. He left 3 pieces for the rest of us. :(
A snack that caused so much heartbreak! Every one was pissed with my Dad for it. It tasted so addictive and I only had one miserly piece to savor the taste. So why did all hell break lose for this Seafood Tempura Crackers? The seawood just went so well with the crispy crackers! It is like a Japanese Ko-ro-poh! Don't miss this. But remember to hide it from your family!!!
Yellow Rhapsody
I don't think this is for everybody so I ranked in 3rd. Mustard is quite an acquired taste. For a mustard lover, I am impressed with such a snack cos OMG I have never seen any mustard snack in the market. But personally, I felt that the snack could do with more mustard powder. Spam the mustard, the stronger the taste, the better. My Mum however was like "bleh". So I guess that's why it is #3. But this is really quite exotic so give it a try if you feeling adventurous.
For those of you who are interested in the snacks, I suggest you test out the taster box or 1 time subscription box first to find out what you like. After that, you can go onto the online shop and just buy all your favourite snacks! Let them do the sourcing and we do the snacking, I am sure after gouging yourself, you will agree with me, all pantries should be loaded with Snacks4Me!!!

PMS, Go Away Please!

Periods are horrible monthly tortures that a true woman has to go through. Honestly, sometimes I wonder why Nature creates us this way. It is so unfair. Why do women have to be the gender that gives life?!? But thankfully, we don't have to do N.S. Maybe that makes life a little fairer. *smirks*
Apart from the shock that a part of you is bleeding, periods also bring along some of their highly un-welcomed friends such as zits and PMS. I don't know which is worse. But thankfully for me, usually zits and PMS don't visit me much. But this month, luck wasn't on my side, !@#$% Did I just swear?!? Whatever, that's PMS at its finest already really.
Bespoke Box
So this month, I had something to make my mood a little better. (Just in case you are wondering, why is this post so filled of unfathomable angst, now you know why!) I got a Bespoke Box. It is basically a box of surprises to tide you through the rough patch. You could get it for yourself or any crazy bitches in your life cos we all need some pampering every now and then. For the sweeter guys, you can also get the ladies in your life a box.
I actually broke the seal before having the PMS so boo, I lost the surprise element when I needed it most. For you other ladies out there, this will come before your period, but don't be like me. Have some self-restraint. At least, you will have something to feel less like bawling your eyes out off. We don't really need more liquid flowing out of us. (Man, can't believe I am cranky enough to say this, if you get the pun)
Voodoo Doll
My box of goodies came with snacks like Pocky (really good for me cos I just eat when I am stressed or bored. Fat life!), Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Cream, Sierra Bees' Organic Lip Balm, Poise Liners and a surprise Voodoo Doll. Initially, my first thought was that the box seems pretty practical apart from the Voodoo Doll. But now I am in my PMS mood, I can tell you Voodoo Doll is the best part of this box. I am irrationally emotional and pissed. It is as though as the whole world offended me and only this doll can set things straight.
Just moments ago, I insisted to the BF that I needed new shoes because I needed to buy back some confidence, beauty and happiness. Went shopping at one of the most expensive shops in Singapore and tried on a pair of $200 shoes that didn't fit me. Guess what I told my BF, "apparently happiness doesn't come cheap, where's the $500 pairs, let's find them." I am sure I am pretty mad (although I seem to have some talent for scripting). Or have a wish to go dead-broke. Maybe all I needed was a voodoo to vent my "periodic" frustration instead of using my magic card to solve all problems.
PMS
So if you are a male reader, you are probably thinking "That's just excuses for your bad behavior". Maybe...it is true for some ladies. But for me, sometimes during this period, I binge on chocolates and have a tendency to be moody and want to cry. (But I don't cry, cos my pride is way more of a bulldozer than PMS LOL!) But if a box of surprises can calm that lady and rid those drama, the money is worth spending.
At Bespoke Box, the value of the products you are getting is roughly 1.5x more than what you are getting. Yeap, I did the Maths. They are pretty new so there isn't much of a selection option but once it is up, I am sure it will be more value for money if you can pick the goodies you want and the liner/pads/tampons brands. Maybe, keep one as a surprise so that you can bawl...in happiness and not insane sadness.
Bespoke Box
Sanity instead of being a swipe away...could be now just a click away. :)

Period Care Companion: PS Love Review

During that one time in a month, the thought of being a woman sux would run through my mind. Periods...sigh...where hormones run wild.
Male readers may not understand, but let me share with you a little more about the agony during this month, and perhaps you would treat the lovely women in your life a little more gently and give her a little more love during her rough days!
Sad_Bunny
During my period days, honestly I don't even know what I am feeling. One moment, I am depressed, the next moment I am murderous, ready to kill any creature, dead or alive who cross my path. During my heavy flow days, I have really bad cramps. Like my bunny, I don't want to do anything, I just want to lay down, sleep and occasionally weep to my pillow and sometimes throw her a few punches.
I am just crazy and I know that! And I don't take selfies during these days...Zzz...
PS Love
But this month, I have PS Love to make this experience a little less bad. *weak smile*
In Singapore, there are many subscription box projects going on. But, this one is a little more interesting which every women would need. PS Love is spearheaded by 2 high school students who wanted to reduce the friction and stigma of people talking about Periods. The vision of PS Love is simple - to chase away the periodic blues and automate this very mundane and repetitive cycle of a woman's life (which lasts about 38 years in a woman's lifetime!!!) 38*12, that's a lot of low points I have to go through. Sigh.
For me, I dislike the discomfort and just need something - a reminder maybe to tell me that hey, this ain't that bad. For other women, you could probably dislike queuing for your supplies and the search for remedies for your cramps every month. (Or you could be like me, feel bad about yourself and not search for any answer to the pain)
PSLove
PS Love is a really nice surprise parcel for me. It came a good 2-3 days before my period. I usually forget the date, so it warns me that the monster inside me is coming. It was personally delivered in an extremely secure box, I even had some problem struggling to open it. The sticker "Hey, you are looking at my bottom" made me laugh. You should really notice it when you receive yours! :)
It came with a good supplies of pad for a month (you can even select the brand and type -with/without wing/ day/night etc!) Like magic, no more stocking up, and pads appear when you need them. But I really love best was the snacks that came with it.
Magic
Maybe it because I am more of a comfort food person. Here are some of the healthy goodies (may change every month) that came in my box which I really appreciated. (If left on my own, I just might binge on unhealthy snacks)

  • PMS Tea Cinnamon - I like it quite a lot, I might even drink it when I am not having my period *chuckles*
  • Dry Roasted Edamame
  • Anti-Cranky Cranberry Meets Honey Almond
  • Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips
  • Hanuta Minis
  • Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - FAV!!!
  • Witors Praline

Hope you enjoyed the video, to know more about PS Love, you can drop them a visit by clicking here. For those who are very concerned about the cost, there are different types of subscription and so you will likely find something that suits your budget.
P.S. they don't over-charge the pads too :) I think that is really one good thing about them plus of cos the hand delivered service. Thank you PS Love, I can't say period is fun now but at least I found a period care companion that will go through these stormy days with me.

Black Box - August Edition

Neh, this isn't my Black Box. I wasn't that lucky to get mine twice in a row. This is my Mum's Black Box. She was waiting for it so long, she just gave up waiting. The last few times she saw me getting mine, she commented, it must be age discrimination, but you know what she doesn't care about getting her black box anyway! Talk about a huge fat sour grape!
I had to pretty much beg Mum to let me blog about her box. (Cos I am boring and is forever low on content. I probably need to explore Singapore more or surf the line more often for interesting stuff!) But still, I could see she was pleasantly surprised when she finally received hers! Haha!
August 2013
I thought her box was more, well, less adventurous in my terms and the items were more of interest to an older lady. Generally, it is just very practical! Food stuff and toiletries, pretty much the favourites of my Mum. Haha! But I feel, August box is way better than July Box. Pfft~
It is pretty much the same as all the edition I have received apart from the Dettol bath full sample, wipes and tea. And I finally looked through Purer ingredients list and realised they use PURE BIRD NEST. Haha, conveniently took Mum's sample away. Anyway she doesn't count them anyway, she probably won't even notice one missing! :P
blackbox
Last but not least, the link to get your own black box is here. Caring is sharing or is it sharing is caring?!?
And just some random rambling, I am so friggin excited, I have survived the 1 month and we are celebrating. My mum said I was so fat I am going to burst the seams of my dress. :( If you ever read this, MUM THAT WAS PURE MEAN!

Black Box: Jul Edition

This time round, I must be pretty lucky, considering I received my July Black Box earlier than my friends. Honestly, it is less exciting than before. There is way lesser sample products and this time it is less interesting.
Black Box
Of course, considering it is a free subscription box, like what my friend always chide me, I am not suppose to expect too much out of it. However, this time round, we waited three months for it so I thought it would be better than the last. (My prophecy seems to be coming true...next quarterly and soon poof it is gone.)
Bb3
This time round, there were like only a miserly 6 samples. *inserts grouchy face* The vouchers were pathetic and extremely useless. Personally, I am not into energy drinks. So really, the appeal isn't much there. I am pretty glad Loreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Sample. I really wanted to try it out. But the sample is a bit small though. (Typical Singaporean, always complaining...haha)
Black Box 4
Belif is repeated sample brand. But I am starting to adore it since I last tried it, so no complains here. The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser looks pretty interesting though. And well, despite being not too much a coffee person, my Dad is extremely intrigued by the coffee sample. He can't wait to try it out!!!
Well, I still think that the more the merrier, hopefully next time round we will get more goodies!!!
As usual, for people who want to snag one box, the link is here.  =)

Black Box: Apr Edition

From a supposedly monthly subscription, it has now become a bi-monthly subscription. How disappointing! :(

I hope it doesn't become a quarterly thing next. And the next thing we know, poof, there goes the black box. Hmph.
Black Box
This time round, I received my black box around the same time as all my buddies. Anyway, I realise Black Box discriminates against older woman. My Mum applied for a box and didn't receive hers. But my friend despite applying for it later, managed to get a subscription box.
Well, at least we know, a household can get more than one box. I guess maybe it is because of the samples' target audience. They seem to appeal a younger girl more than an older woman.
Apr BB
In terms of design and layout, there is not much changes. Apart from a white sheer paper, the samples are now wrapped up in an orange sheer paper.
My favourite has to be the baby wipes. It is a full-size product and I just like baby wipes. :) It makes you smell like a baby butt after a sweaty day out. Not saying that there is anything sexy about smelling like a kid's ass...LOL! My mum on the other hand is more excited about Varnish sample pack. Haha!
BB2
As usual, it is flooded with useless vouchers I will never use. Pretty excited about the facial products though and Loreal revitalift. Food samples are the best because they are just so practical.
One feedback on Black Box: don't think they should give repeated samples unless well we request for it. It is my second time receiving Darlie toothpaste and nature valley energy bar. I happen to like both a lot. But in terms of marketing, it doesn't seen to make much a sense. Just saying...
If you want to get one too, the link is here.  =)

Subscription: It's a black box...literally

Guess what I received in my mail...A Black Box!

Yup, it is like the all so popular subscription box. Haha, only difference is that it is free, absolutely no subscription fees. Yipee!
IMG_5031
As you can see, for a free subscription box, it was really good. They provided free courier services and packed a whole full box of samples in a...black box.
I received on the last day of February and all my friends have actually received it before me. Imagine the agony of me waiting and pining for my box to come. I am glad it eventually came. My neck grew at least an inch longer with me stretching my neck to keep a look out for Mr. Courier Man. Haha.
Black Box 1
Apart from the endless vouchers which I think I will not use, they have pretty cool skin care sample products such as Loreal Youth Code (which I am using) and simply delicious snack such as Nature Valley Crunchy. =)
Overall, I was rather happy with the whole black box.  It is almost as good as those subscription box that you have to buy online. Makes me wonder about Black Box profit strategy...hehe.
black box 3
In addition, we have Darlie toothpaste, Dettol body wash, Loreal hair mask and First-Lab sunshield. Hmm, makes me wonder what will we get next? Health supplements maybe? Excited =P
Aren't you just tempted to get one too? Being nice as usual, I have linked it here.  =)
