Thinx is cool

I came across this really cool period product - Thinx. Waited so long for the period to come so that I could give it a go. I think some of you may have heard of them on other platforms. I have inserted 2 videos here because they have seemingly did rigorous testing on it. (One of a local Asian perspective and another of a more international perspective.)

So, a little bit more about Thinx, which I thought it was a very cool concept. Firstly, I think it is environmentally friendly cos you can wash and re-use it. Secondly, I like that it is not a product you have to insert into your vagina. Cos there scares me silly and I always wonder if that would break the hymen.

Thirdly, it is more comfortable not having to wear a bulky pad especially when you are doing sports. Lastly, it is more aesthetically pleasing to not have a pad line when dressed in something tight.

I tried out the hiphugger (S$34) and I love the undies. It was soft and comfy. There was no leakage (I used it on a light day though) and there was no musty smell. The only drawback was that the fabric sort of flaked on me? Washing was simple as well since you just had to rinsed out the blood.

Of course, it is recommended that you use it with menstrual cup and tampons. But I am definitely not doing that. The interior is black and you will never see your own blood and freak out. No wetness too!
There is also quite a number of designs available for you to build a cycle set. Personally, I would be more than happy to use them as daily undies if the price wasn't on the expensive side. The activewear is quite affordable, in comparison. And I probably may try one out soon since I am into an active lifestyle now.

For now, I am happy that my bedsheets remain clean and unstained. My flow is always unnaturally heavy. Have a wonderful period, ladies. I hope you adore this product as much as I do. Let's create a fandom! :P

PMS, Go Away Please!

Periods are horrible monthly tortures that a true woman has to go through. Honestly, sometimes I wonder why Nature creates us this way. It is so unfair. Why do women have to be the gender that gives life?!? But thankfully, we don't have to do N.S. Maybe that makes life a little fairer. *smirks*
Apart from the shock that a part of you is bleeding, periods also bring along some of their highly un-welcomed friends such as zits and PMS. I don't know which is worse. But thankfully for me, usually zits and PMS don't visit me much. But this month, luck wasn't on my side, !@#$% Did I just swear?!? Whatever, that's PMS at its finest already really.
Bespoke Box
So this month, I had something to make my mood a little better. (Just in case you are wondering, why is this post so filled of unfathomable angst, now you know why!) I got a Bespoke Box. It is basically a box of surprises to tide you through the rough patch. You could get it for yourself or any crazy bitches in your life cos we all need some pampering every now and then. For the sweeter guys, you can also get the ladies in your life a box.
I actually broke the seal before having the PMS so boo, I lost the surprise element when I needed it most. For you other ladies out there, this will come before your period, but don't be like me. Have some self-restraint. At least, you will have something to feel less like bawling your eyes out off. We don't really need more liquid flowing out of us. (Man, can't believe I am cranky enough to say this, if you get the pun)
Voodoo Doll
My box of goodies came with snacks like Pocky (really good for me cos I just eat when I am stressed or bored. Fat life!), Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Cream, Sierra Bees' Organic Lip Balm, Poise Liners and a surprise Voodoo Doll. Initially, my first thought was that the box seems pretty practical apart from the Voodoo Doll. But now I am in my PMS mood, I can tell you Voodoo Doll is the best part of this box. I am irrationally emotional and pissed. It is as though as the whole world offended me and only this doll can set things straight.
Just moments ago, I insisted to the BF that I needed new shoes because I needed to buy back some confidence, beauty and happiness. Went shopping at one of the most expensive shops in Singapore and tried on a pair of $200 shoes that didn't fit me. Guess what I told my BF, "apparently happiness doesn't come cheap, where's the $500 pairs, let's find them." I am sure I am pretty mad (although I seem to have some talent for scripting). Or have a wish to go dead-broke. Maybe all I needed was a voodoo to vent my "periodic" frustration instead of using my magic card to solve all problems.
PMS
So if you are a male reader, you are probably thinking "That's just excuses for your bad behavior". Maybe...it is true for some ladies. But for me, sometimes during this period, I binge on chocolates and have a tendency to be moody and want to cry. (But I don't cry, cos my pride is way more of a bulldozer than PMS LOL!) But if a box of surprises can calm that lady and rid those drama, the money is worth spending.
At Bespoke Box, the value of the products you are getting is roughly 1.5x more than what you are getting. Yeap, I did the Maths. They are pretty new so there isn't much of a selection option but once it is up, I am sure it will be more value for money if you can pick the goodies you want and the liner/pads/tampons brands. Maybe, keep one as a surprise so that you can bawl...in happiness and not insane sadness.
Bespoke Box
Sanity instead of being a swipe away...could be now just a click away. :)

Review: Hotel Kotex

Brand loyalty is a concept that is best seen in woman's pad. Nope, it is not the writing pad. It is that monthly pad. Women, are God's fickle creation. But one thing I realize we really stick to, through the bad days (literally) are the pads. Of course, sometimes, we do give other pads a try. Free pads, borrowed pads etc. but women just seem to go back to their old pad pack.
In fact, women could be split by the brands they use. *chuckles* I am, and have a always been a Kotex girl. I started going for the "looks" Kotex Luxe has the best interior packaging. I have always thought the flowery interior was very very attractive. But of course, my argument has always been cruelly brought down by people who would tell me what the beautiful florals would be eventually covered with *Haiz*
Hotel Kotex
Maybe it is just me, but I always think Kotex has the thinnest, most comfortable pads. They are barely visible, so there is no self-consciousness that the pad will bulge out in tight skirts.
And also...LOL LAME JOKE ALERT, Kotex can help you reject unwanted suitors. If a man ever pick you up at a bar using match sticks spelling HOTEL, you just have to move 3 match sticks to reject him. HAHAHA.
Kotex Overnight
If you have super heavy flow, I suggest using the Kotex Luxe Overnight pad. Don't judge it by its super thin exterior, it is like an absorbent sponge. I have used it myself so many times and I love it. You can go to bed without a worry. This is that pad that will help you realise that overnight period leakage is never your fault. In fact, leakages won't even exist in your dictionary. :)
With the 32 cm New Honeycomb Liquid-Locker centre specially designed to rapidly absorb and lock away fluid to help prevent back-flow, your intimate area will feel dry and comfortable throughout the night. New Ultra Comfort Cover Specially designed to deliver both dryness and softness, helping provide the ultimate experience of a high performance pad. Surrounding the honeycomb centre is the soft cottony surface with surrounding embossed star-contours will provide additional security and leakage protection.
Kotex Day
During the day, you can try using the Daytime -24cm (Blue). Compared to the Overnight pad (green), it is the like the little, shorter sister. Like her Overnight sister, she is equally competent in keeping you safe and dry. Their vibrant packaging of each pad will also help to brighten up your grey hormonal mood swings!
Want to try this revolutionary pad where softness and dryness come together, get a FREE SAMPLE redemption on Sample Store. Alternatively, you can also request for a FREE SAMPLE on Kotex Facebook page! So feel fabulous with me and be on top of your game even on period days!

Period Care Companion: PS Love Review

During that one time in a month, the thought of being a woman sux would run through my mind. Periods...sigh...where hormones run wild.
Male readers may not understand, but let me share with you a little more about the agony during this month, and perhaps you would treat the lovely women in your life a little more gently and give her a little more love during her rough days!
Sad_Bunny
During my period days, honestly I don't even know what I am feeling. One moment, I am depressed, the next moment I am murderous, ready to kill any creature, dead or alive who cross my path. During my heavy flow days, I have really bad cramps. Like my bunny, I don't want to do anything, I just want to lay down, sleep and occasionally weep to my pillow and sometimes throw her a few punches.
I am just crazy and I know that! And I don't take selfies during these days...Zzz...
PS Love
But this month, I have PS Love to make this experience a little less bad. *weak smile*
In Singapore, there are many subscription box projects going on. But, this one is a little more interesting which every women would need. PS Love is spearheaded by 2 high school students who wanted to reduce the friction and stigma of people talking about Periods. The vision of PS Love is simple - to chase away the periodic blues and automate this very mundane and repetitive cycle of a woman's life (which lasts about 38 years in a woman's lifetime!!!) 38*12, that's a lot of low points I have to go through. Sigh.
For me, I dislike the discomfort and just need something - a reminder maybe to tell me that hey, this ain't that bad. For other women, you could probably dislike queuing for your supplies and the search for remedies for your cramps every month. (Or you could be like me, feel bad about yourself and not search for any answer to the pain)
PSLove
PS Love is a really nice surprise parcel for me. It came a good 2-3 days before my period. I usually forget the date, so it warns me that the monster inside me is coming. It was personally delivered in an extremely secure box, I even had some problem struggling to open it. The sticker "Hey, you are looking at my bottom" made me laugh. You should really notice it when you receive yours! :)
It came with a good supplies of pad for a month (you can even select the brand and type -with/without wing/ day/night etc!) Like magic, no more stocking up, and pads appear when you need them. But I really love best was the snacks that came with it.
Magic
Maybe it because I am more of a comfort food person. Here are some of the healthy goodies (may change every month) that came in my box which I really appreciated. (If left on my own, I just might binge on unhealthy snacks)

  • PMS Tea Cinnamon - I like it quite a lot, I might even drink it when I am not having my period *chuckles*
  • Dry Roasted Edamame
  • Anti-Cranky Cranberry Meets Honey Almond
  • Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips
  • Hanuta Minis
  • Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - FAV!!!
  • Witors Praline

Hope you enjoyed the video, to know more about PS Love, you can drop them a visit by clicking here. For those who are very concerned about the cost, there are different types of subscription and so you will likely find something that suits your budget.
P.S. they don't over-charge the pads too :) I think that is really one good thing about them plus of cos the hand delivered service. Thank you PS Love, I can't say period is fun now but at least I found a period care companion that will go through these stormy days with me.
