Food Tour Part 7: Best Food around West Coast

Cos I am having some problems focusing for the exams, I thought I would do some quick easy food posts. (I do eat even though I am quite stressed up studying! Maybe I end up eating more. Oops) Haha.

And guess my sponsors also need some assurance that this blog is still up and running and that their posts will definitely be up once my exams are over... Whee~~~ Will be showing some good food around West Coast this time!

1. 136 Hong Kong Street Fish Head Steamboat (Clementi)

I have been living here half my life and I never knew about this place until my BF told me about this. Unfortunately, it is under renovation now. And this is so terrbile because I have been craving for the Claypot Mee Tai Bak every rainy day ever since.

Some of the food I have tried so far were the Salted Egg Pork Ribs and the Spinach with Trio Eggs. That day I was there, I saw many people having the Oyster Omelette. Should have stuff myself full. Now I am just regretting. When they reopen, do try them out. The price is reasonable and the food is good.

2. Ah Hoe Mee Pok

This Mee Pok always have a darn long queue during lunch so please go there early. It doesn't really taste like the normal Mee Pok we are used to (Made by Japanese by the way). I find the vinegar taste stronger than the normal Mee Pok. My family always support this store because they are generous with the ingredients. :D

I have pretty much tried everything on the menu (yea, I am a huge fan.) and most of them are really good. If you want the other normal mee pok, the shifu's store is the best ever. It is just near-by too at Blk 501 West Coast Drive! (Guess all the best Mee Pok is at West Coast hahaha)

3. Prata Alley

I guess by now you are know I love my pratas. So when this Prata shop newly open, I immediately made my way there to try it out. Haha. And mind you, this cafe is usually very crowded (especially in the evenings!) The price is kinda of expensive but I like the variety. (I have yet to finish everything on the menu yet!)

I mostly tabao away. But when I do sit in, I really like the ambience. It is kinda of noisy (Kopi-diam with aircon feel haha). And plus point, the owners are very nice and always attention to detail. Do try them out! (But if you see me in the queue, let me go first, after all I recommend you one OK!)

Join the Sisterhood with Sister Act

Feeling really lucky cos we won tickets to a Broadway Musical - Sister Act. Guess all the watching of cinemas at WE is all worth it. Check out my previous post on what you can should try at 321 mall if you missed that earlier!

This musical is based on a movie (which I never watch before), I am guessing it is way before my time? So basically, it is about a wannabe singer, Deloris Van Cartier who was put into protective custody as a nun in a convent after she witnessed a murder.

This is the first time I am attending a musical and also going to Mastercard Theatres so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. But surprisingly, on a Thursday evening, the theatre was nearly full. And another unexpected surprise was that 'Wow, the seats were actually really good'. Thank you WE and Base Entertainment for your generosity. 

My Bro and I aren't really fans but the people around us were. Before the show even started, I could hear excited murmurs and chatters about how excited they were and how long they waited for this to me here. And so my expectations went up too.

Individually, I don't really think the singers voices were that good. But together their voices were like angels. For the first part of the show, I nearly fell asleep. LOL. It was a Thursday evening mind you so that was tiring. Haha. But after the interval, wow, I found myself bobbing my head and humming along.

The costumes and choreography got better to the end. It was amazing and really made me wanted to check out the movie. They even had people standing up and clapping at the end. I didn't stand cos I thought the musical was not that perfect yet. (Haha, critical). But, I think it was worth my time and Friday's exhaustion.

Musicals are definietely way more expensive than movies. But, after experiencing it once, I really think we all need to indulge for one at least once in a lifetime. Mall Talk: 321 Clementi

Finally got around to doing posts on sub-urban posts since my last post! Decided to start closer to home simply because I am more familiar with them and also closer to the heart.

So I am going to start off with - 321 Clementi. For those who live around this area, yeah, you might have seen me loitering around there before. But because it is so close to home, I dress pretty shabbily so you probably can't recognise me. Hehe!.

1. WE Cinema by Eng Wah

This is probably the most exciting thing that happen to people who live around this area. Our nearest cinema used to be at Jurong East, but now we have one right at our door-step. The plot of land used to house another old cinema- Queen? I think. But since it closed down, Clementi just became an old town. So now, we are all very, very happy with this new cinema.

We now have mascots during previews to spruce up our life and maybe because of the location, it is not always fully occupied. So it is so damn easy to get a seat!!! No more last-minute disappointment! With Cathay and Shaw at Jurong East, Eng Wah at my backyard, I now have the choice of 3 Cinemas to choose from. Still, I usually pick the one and only WE Cinema by Eng Wah. Right at my doorstep what, save transport money!

2. Doi Chaang Coffee

Although I am a huge fan of anything Thai, I am actually not a huge fan of coffee. I only drink Starbucks-non caffeinated drinks, like WTH right! But Doi Chaang ice coffee is the only coffee I take. I go there so many times, I am surprised if the shop keeper doesn't recognise me! 

This is literally "the place" I share with everybody with my big mouth. Lol, they should really pay me for "word-of-mouth" advertorial. Haha. I have the Sugar App, so I would order the discount coffee or take the cake set. 3. Saizeriya

It is a very familiar for all students, cos it serve very affordable western food. The only branch that was convenient for me used to be at The Cathay. But now, Saizeriya is just at my backyard I can eat whenever I like...or not. It is the most crowded restaurant here at 321 Clementi. So come early, if you don't want to queue!

My favourites are escargot, always have them without fail. You can easily get a pasta at less than 5 bucks!! The price is friggin affordable, but yet the food is not inedible, so it is like a spot for cheap dates and family meals!

4. Arch Angel Brow

Honestly, I have never been to this shop. But...it has a lot raves online and every time I walk past it, there is always a customer that the "browist" (is that even what they are called!) are attending to. And so, I concluded this shop must be pretty decent.

Given my character, I should totally be trying it out...BUT...it looks kinda of painful. You can check out their FB here although everything is in mandarin or read up some of their reviews online. But it is definitely one unique shop not to be missed.

5. Wimi

It was really tough finding 5, because there are quite many stores that serve interesting food and made my life more convenient. But it seems ridiculous if I am going to write about every store as being the 5 Must-Go! Picked Wimi as the last store because not every place serves it. 

Traditional Coconut ice-cream Yum! Of course I may be bias to the Thai Food haha and oblivious to the goodness of some services I haven't used, but this are my Top 5 in 321 Clementi. There is also one other dessert place that I like to go too and quite a lot of restaurants I haven't tried cos of my Brand Loyalty.:P
