Maternity Goodies - Mama's Choice

I am not sure about other mothers but I am pretty particular about the skincare and oral products I use during pregnancy. And that's because some of the ingredients used in these products may not be pregnancy safe and may pass through our skin and affect the foetus.

Mama's Choice sent me some of their products and I am quite excited to try them. Their products contain zero harmful chemicals and use mostly natural ingredients. They also hold a huge selection of products, covering all the Mummy's needs from pregnancy to postpartum. There are also products for the baby as well!

1. Stretch Mark Cream ($16.90)

Just to caveat, I already have strech marks from my first pregnancy, so I am basically just trying to reduce the amount of new stretch marks this time round. Honestly, I can't tell whether the product helps to reduce stretch marks. But when I apply the cream onto the reddish/ purplish stretch marks, they do become fainter.

The cream doesn't feel very sticky and is fragrant-free. Tip for new mums: Always apply generously even when your stretchmarks has yet to appear. Also stretchmarks may appear postpartum so do continue to apply even after delivery!

2. Oral Care Bundle ($7.90)
Inclusive of Non-Fluoride Toothpaste ($5.90) and Natural Mouthwash ($3.90)

During my last pregnancy, I have to be honest and admit that I was really bad at keeping my oral hygiene. I would brush my teeth only once a day. There were many mothers in my groupchat which ended up having teeth decay and I was fortunate enough to not be one of them. I received free samples from Mama's Choice previously so I actually used these products before. I would think they are the reason why I kept my pearly whites cavity-free.

So far, this is the first time I came across oral products targetted for mothers and I was quite amused with the green toothpaste. Basically, both products don't contain alcohol and flouride. For mothers who have bad morning sickness (like me), the products didn't induce nausea. :) Would recommend this!

3. Herbal Oil ($15.90)

This product is insanely good. I have really bad leg cramps during my third trimester and would use this to relieve them. It helps to relax the massage and reduce the frequency of the cramps. The oil is not sticky has a very distinctive scent (fromt the cajuput oil), which is also the secret to treating sore muscles and joints. Never seen a product that works as well as this, strongly recommend all mothers to have a bottle of this at home.

Updates: I had Mummy's nursing pain in my forearm. It was so painful I considered taking a painkiller. I applied the oil an massage that strained muscle for a month. And voila, within a day, the pain was no longer there!

Good Oral Hygiene with Playbrush

I came across this article and was shocked that more than half of the kids in Singapore has one or more rotten teeth by the time they are 7. That seems a lot!!! I think in my lifetime, I only had one rotten milk teeth. Thankfully, after I rid that ugly rotten, black thing off my mouth, I have since maintained nice, beautiful healthy pearly whites. :)
But, naive me, just because it is milk teeth doesn't mean the impact isn't permanent. The bacteria from the milk teeth can also affect the development of their adult molars! I don't have kids myself, but I think what my Mum did right when I was a kid was making brushing a habit. Twice a day, one before bedtime and one when you wake up. It is just a routine that sticks with time.
Playbrush
Nowadays with technology, brushing is made fun. During my time, I remember brushing a model of the mouth, that resembled a lot like the Joker. Maybe that's the reason why most kids and even dentist hate going to dentist. Talk about long-life trauma.
The big kid in me received a Playbrush to have a go. They have it in blue and pink, for both the little boys and little girls. The packaging look both cute and resonates with the inner Geek in me. It really look like some cool gadget yea.
Playbrush
I opened the box and expected complicated wires. But, basically the Playbrush is only made of 3 simple parts. o.O And it is pretty intuitive to use. A bawling child may possibly charge it himself or herself. So you pretty have to charge the bottom white portion using the USB. It will blink red when it is charging and will be fully red when fully charged.
You have to download "Utoothia" on your phone and turn on your bluetooth. To connect the Playbrush to your brush, you just have to give it a few happy flings till the bottom turn orange and you are good and ready to be a brave soldier for the gorgeous Tooth Fairy.
Utoothia
And it has also include some storytelling elements for the children. I tried out the game myself. While killing some monsters, I found myself brushing my teeth the proper way. That's great cos I didn't like it when the dental nurse in my Primary School barked at me to brush Joker's teeth right. Had to brush it umpteen times until she was satisfied.
The good thing is that the game distracts the child from noticing how tedious it is to brush their teeth. It is particularly useful for kids who detest brushing their teeth. Now instead of this annoying thing they have to do each night, it becomes a mission to clean their teeth.
Playbrush
Game-wise, the graphics were awesome. It is rather repetitive so the kids can get the hang of it fast. But I think this Playbrush could also do a version for adults, simply because I know of too many people who are rather old around me who also don't like to brush their teeth. Particularly guys I know seem to have a thing against good oral hygiene.
For them, I would suggest Counter Strike kinda of game-play. Hopefully, that will get the big boys I know back into the game. There are scores and achievements that the child can obtain. So hurray, cos this would encourage the kids to brush their teeth better.
With this video, you can see like the kid looks like she is just brushing her teeth normally and correctly. But in her eyes, she sees herself completing mission and having a sense of achievement after each brush! So, that is basically what Playbrush is.
If you want one for your kid or yourself, you can purchase it Playbrush for a $20 discount off their retail price of SGD $89! Review: Oral B Vitality Precision Clean

If you wondering why are all her posts so non-sponsored and si-bei xiao, well cos it is exams period again. Woohoo? Neh not exciting at all. No time to copywrite, so I am taking the easy way out to de-stress while keeping my audience entertained...reviewing the products that I am currently using and loving. Write freely...Whee.
And yesh, I super adore my electronic toothbrush. In fact, I think everyone should have one! Because, now it prevents my teeth from staining even if I have my daily caffeine :) if I brush 2 times a day. Was so lazy to charge it for 2 weeks and my teeth got stained again...NOOOOO!!! So if you are using the same Oral B Vitality like me, remember to charge it :) Personally, I feel the rotations are weaker if you don't charge it on a consistent basis.
Oral B Vitality
For those who haven't tried the electronic toothbrush before, it is just really like normal brushing but don't put it too close to your gums lest you hurt them and yes they will bleed. Depending on the brand and model, the cheapest is around S$60. I think it is very worth it for clean pearly white!
Have been using like over half an year and I am loving it. Just wanted to tell the rest too if you suffer from easily stained teeth like me. Sian TTM. People always tell me, you are so pretty have a dimpled smile, your stained teeth OMG. Even the dentist also say, your oral hygiene is awesome but your stained teeth...But now, the tides has changed!!! You can find them at Watsons and Guardians and they can be doubly used as fake mic for your home mini concert.
Yea, stress has made me mad. :P

Review: Confirm (Trading) Confident Smiles

Oral
So today, the topic could be really gross for some. It is oral hygiene. Well, a smile is the cheapest accessory (Free!) you could make yourself to beautiful :) But to maintain a gorgeous smile, it takes effort. To let the looker have a pleasant experience, you would need to have pearly white and good breathe. :)
I have some interesting items from Confirm Trading to put them to the test. We have the Kiss You Ionic Toothbrush, intriguing Dr Tung's tongue cleaner and Dentiste' Night-time Toothpaste.
Kiss youIonic Toothbrush is quite a common product across all brands. Basically, it is to ionically attract the plaque on your teeth. Generally, I would say it sounds gimmicky cos the effect aren't that apparent. I have been using this product for more than a year now. Firstly I don't have that much of plaque. But, my dental visit has always been attracting praises by my dentist for my incredibly healthy teeth. So, I would say it is actually pretty good for maintenance.
This is a not a product where you can observe immediate miracles. But at least, it is quite effortless to use it. You just have to hold the toothbrush with the thumb touching the metal stem and keep the metal stem wet at all times for the ionic action to work. I can't confirm for real it can remove up to 48% more plaque than ordinary toothbrushes!
Wake Up!
For anyone who is expecting to wake up with good morning breathe after using Dentiste' Night-time Toothpaste, this isn't the case for me. It is a very refreshing toothpaste which I prefer them over the more popular household brands. But when you wake up, you are still not ready to kiss anyone. I don't know maybe I just have horrible breathe. :(
Even with the Dentiste' Night-time Toothpaste and Ionic Toothbrush, my teeth stains are still there. My teeth are easily stainable and if you suffer the same problems as me, these 2 products won't solve it. So far, the only way to remove them is to go for polishing at the dentist. Rumuors say that electric toothbrush may do the same, but I haven't really tested it out.  Overall, it is a good toothpaste but perhaps it set users' expectations too high. So you may be bound for disappointment.
Tongue Cleaner
Saving the best for the last, yeap it is the Tongue cleaner. This is really just you don't see every day. Despite my grimace in the photo, the product is surprisingly painless on the tongue. Even I expected it to be somewhat like a torture product considering how it is designed. Looks so much like a tongue squeezer! Yep!
You may not know but a good deal of bacteria is on your tongue and those pesky stuff are the cause of bad breath. I would say that after using it, my tongue feels a lot cleaner. My tongue seems to be able to taste better and have a better grasp of the texture of the food and is no longer grossly coloured. At least now I can confidently stick out my tongue when teasing others! Great product!

Haha, I know the video is just disgusting, but at least it has great music right! Don't complain la!
