Great Christmas Village 2025

With the kids, Christmas is never really complete without a bit of carnival fun (like how the Caucasians celebrate it). And Great Christmas Village does it best. This year, Kiztopia is the main vendor. It was split between outside Ngee Ann City and Shaw House (like prior years). In terms of affordability, this year is much better priced at 6 credits per ride/ game. If you get it via the right platforms groupbuy, each credit is around $0.50

Even if you are not there to spend, there is quite a number of free photo areas which you can stop by to catch some photos and christmas spirit. My little girl was so impressed with the realistic fireplace, she almost tried to touch it. Haha. Both areas either have a tentage up or is within sheltered area. So it's a rain or shine event.

Every year, they would split the attractions between the areas. I prefer the selection at Ngee Ann City. The kids were crazy about the Bouncy Castle and the rides such as the Turbo Twister and Rudolf's Express were really more of my thing. I went around the early afternoon. There was a lesser crowd and because there wasn't anyone mending the rides (I thought they weren't open and went home empty handed).

There were also an area for food and lots of game booths. There were some obvious will-win booth (which are my favourite). I just can't bear going home empty-handed. At the other end, the jolly cruisers and the jolly jumps were favourites with my kids. For the claw machines fanatics, you will find them there. I had great fun and so did they, I might just hit another round there because I've got a great deal (and I will be sharing with you too!)

Christmas with Pan Pacific

It is no secret that we dig Pan Pacific's food and hotels. So I was pretty stoked when we had a chance to try out their Christmas offerings. I am unabashed to admit that I like being blown away by pretty deco. And the lined tables, iced Christmas tree, fake fireplace really gave the place so much ambience. I took away with so much inspo for the next event we will be hosting! (Thanks Pan Pac!)

The food wise was also very impressively laid out. And most importantly, they tasted as good as it looked. My favourite was the oysters. Did you know that Pan Pacific has an annual Oyster Buffet? I felt this was a entree that let you have a flavour on what the buffet has to offer <3

To me, Christmas is really a time to feast. Personally, the turkey is always a highlight so I was pleased to see a traditional roasted turkey being served. You will be guaranteed a classic Yuletide experience as there is also the Honey-glazed Boneless Ham, Fruit cakes and Log cakes! Apart from the Christmas delights, we can also find snow crab, beef stew and crispy duck skin as part of the festive offerings. 

The desserts table was truly a sight to behold as it was thoughtfully revamped and decorated with Christmas-related embellishments. The Mao Shang Wang Logcake was my personal favourite, and I did ate more than my usual share of desserts because some of the items looked so intriguing - just had to try to find out what they are!

Also, I wanted to take the chance to highlight the festive hamper. It has quite a nice variety of items and look extremely presentable as a corporate gift. Another good gift option is the box of Praline or macarons, which will add up to be around S$20+ a box. I think it is quite a nice gift to colleagues or subordinates. And you just need 6 boxes to hit free delivery. :)

If you a fellow tea lover like me, the Festive Afternoon Tea ($78 per pax) is bound to capture your heart. Even if you miss the holiday season, you can also try the tea menu at $68 per pax (but it does not have the yuletide-inspired delicacies. 

Shopback: It's shopping time

I really have a love-hate relaionship with the last quarter of the year. Part of me really love the good deals that come along with it. Another part of me truly abhor the face that I am spending non-stop this quarter. First 9.9, then 10.10, next 11.11 and now 12.12. My pocket has truly burnt a big hole. 

Here's a money saving tip. When I am shopping at the platform, I always access them through Shopback. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Shopback, it is a rewards platform that give you cashback when you shop with their partners. Yes, you get cold hard cash back. I have tried and tested it :P

This year, Shopback launched the World's first christmas cashback cake from Bake Inc.. The light and fluffy chooclate sponge cake is layered with a rich dark chocolate cream and is topped with chocolate cream. It is dusted with powedered sugar and decorated with lots of money to remind us the amount of savings shoppers can bring for us. The cake can feed more than 10 pax (although it humbly claims to feed 8 to 10 people) and for the health-conscious you will be happy to know that it is low in sugar and does not contain any preservatives. 

Coincidentally, my little brother's birthday lie within the Christmas season and we decided to double this up as a birthday cake. So you lucky readers get to have an early review on the taste. The cake definitely taste as good as it looks. Be reminded to thaw it before consuming so that the runny chocolate would taste nicer. My brother was tickled pink by the surprise embedded in it. 

Personally, I was more excitied by Cashback Troopers Plushies (comes with the cake) which I thought was extremely adorable and good as props for my future photoshoots. So don't be surprised to see them popping up as and when in future photos. :D Ending the post with a boomerang. Yes, this cake is so good for photos and Instag! 5 Things You Need This Christmas!

You may remember a collaboration I did with Floral Garage earlier this year. I am proud to say that this year they have developed another mew subsidiary, Christmas Tree Singapore. And so, they actually a mini survey find out who spend most during Christmas and what we spend on the most during Christmas. Yikes. Curious about the research? You can find them here.

It is kinda of early for Christmas, but the retailers spend a lot of their resources to find out our behavior! United Overseas Bank came up with an infographic using their statistics to show what most men and women want and want to give for Christmas.

I think I agree with most of the findings. Personally, I am quite practical so my family and BF get me things I would need and use for Christmas. I do like surprises but this usually come from friends. Haha and of course there are always time where it more of a shock like what on earth was this person thinking when he/she bought this...

But, I do spend a lot more than that for Christmas cos we don't really celebrate thanksgiving so it is the only time in the year where you can show appreciation to those around you and they don't question you about your niceness. :D 

But it does seems that most consumers indeed spend the most on themselves, and on house decorations! This is not really surprising at all because:-

1. Everyone wants to celebrate Christmas in beautiful atmosphere. I am not Christian but even my house has a Christmas Tree. My family take it as a day where we can gift each other expensive presents and gather together.


2. My Dad takes a lot of pride in making sure the tree looks great every Christmas. When we were younger, we would handmade the deco. Our tree doesn't have a specific theme, we would just hang anything happy on it. So as the years go by, our tree become over-decorated. Wonder what would happen when I have kids, we may never see leaves. LOL!


3. I am quite Instagram crazy and I sure many of you are too right. So there is some feel good factor when we receive compliments because of the beautiful decorations and the effort we put in to make our tree really special!

Here are some items I consolidated which you would need this Christmas to effectively create the festive mood!

1. Christmas Trees 

The number one must-have during Christmas - tree. In countries that experience winter, families often purchase real life Christmas Trees. Most of us have only synthetic tree at home because the type of climate that Singapore has would not be suitable for a real life Christmas Tree at all.  Despite the fact Christmas Trees signify life in the midst of winter, they would never survive the long ride here. :(

Fake trees work well for us cos we don't really want to sweep their needles. Moreover, due to commercial reasons, such real life trees are constantly treated with pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers which may be quite health issue. Bleh!

2. Baubles 

I am pretty sure nobody wants the trees to look bald. Baubles are actually meant to replicate the fruits on your tree. Guess that's probably why red baubles are the most popular!

3. Christmas Lights

One of my favourite decorations is the christmas lights. I always look forward to the lighting up of Christmas trees overseas. It is so magical. Some of you may like to purchase trees that come with attached light bulbs but do you know they are often not replaceable should any of light bulb blows! I do recommend the conventional method of lighting up your own tree because there is really more room for customisation and most importantly, it is incredibly fun!

4. Wreaths

Wreaths are made in a circular fashion to signify eternity. It is believed that the a long time ago, the Romans exchanged wreaths with each other as a sign of wishing good health. Today, in modern culture, families still hang wreaths at their front doors. I don't have one of these at home. But wreaths are one deco that signifies Christmas. Maybe this year, I will have one too :D

5. Stockings 

The original significance of hanging a Christmas Stocking out on Christmas Eve was so that Santa Claus would be able to fill it with small toys or gifts. Singapore never really had chimneys to begin with and as we grow up, we slowly realised that Santa Claus never really came (cos we are too naughty) but our parents would make sure our stockings are stuff full. Gone are my days of naivety, but leave your stockings up cos I am sure someone out there would want to fatten it with a thing or 2. 

Do plan early for Christmas if you are planning to have the most awesome tree in town. I hope you can support Christmas Tree Singapore because they are local and I write a lot for them. So you are indirectly supporting me if you support them. 

Floral Garage has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success ever since its founding two years ago.
