Funky Find: Sandbox VR

Part of my personal joy in setting up this space is sharing with you guys a thrill in town that taps upon cutting edge technology. Okay, what I am going to introduce you have been here for quite a while. By now, I can safely assure you the technology is quite developed and you will be able to fully enjoy the experience.

Intrigued by the introductory video? It is not made by me la. For all participants, Sandbox VR will collate your very own bragging video. And it is not just one, but two videos. After my game, I shamelessly spammed every group chat my videos. I had so much fun, I just had to broadcast this.

There are currently 3 games available at Sandbox VR. The Hub and I picked Amber Sky which is pretty much space warriors defending the Earth from Aliens. I screamed quite a bit in the game because I am that sort of people that get sucked in. The staff at Sandbox VR helped filmed us while we were playing. And I am embarrassed to say I just talked non-stop throughout...lol hence not all footage can be used. HAHAHA!

If you don't flying bugs and ugly aliens, there are 4 other game options to pick. Personally, despite all my yelling and over-engagement in the game, I think scary games are the BEST cos you just break free. And the things your friends would do to survive...unimaginable. Lol, for me, I just holler non-stop as if I could kill things with my voice. :P

Just to share a little more on the procedure. Everything happens in this green room. All we have to do is suit up and tie the motion sensors on our limbs and we are ready to go. If you are competitive, tie the sensors tightly cos mine got loose halfway and I had problems activating my shield. Hence, there were times I looked like I was swatting flies -_-"'

The gear is actually quite heavy. But once you are in the game, you forget about the load. Hehe. I had quite a good workout and broke out in a bit of sweat (nope, is not just cos of fear la). Do wear loose fitting clothes so that you won't feel overly restrictive. And don't worry if you wear specs, cos they provide lens for the game. *Thumbs up*

Be prepared...after the session, you may lose all your friends and maybe even lover. This was me boasting to the Hub that I am an experienced gamer before the game started. FYI, my accuracy was lesser than 40%. Hahaha. My Hub keep asking me what I was doing in the game. I was ermm...commenting on everything I saw...shooting at him for fun...and I shot the commander a few times cos he scared me. Oops.

I also sort of enjoy rotating my head round and round. So sometimes, things will seemingly appear from nowhere very suddenly. In retrospect, it is more of my extreme swerving and darting. Lol. Another good video below for your viewing and laughing pleasure. Enjoy. Kudos to the team for the hilarious edits. If you are keen, quote "ForFunk" and you will get to enjoy 15% off for the weekday sessions. The code is valid until 31 Oct 2019. So act fast!

**Code has now been extended to 31 Dec. Enjoy!**

Food Tour Part 15: Yums in the CBD

Am quite in the mood to eat this month, so lucky you, we have more food posts to share. This time round, we have quite a food variety ranging from Chinese, fusion and even western. Most importantly, they are all in the CBD area so it is really good for the working crowd. Rejoice if you belong this sad, soul-less group (lol!)

Personally, I feel that this is more of a secret town hide-out. I doubt many people actually know of its existence. I don't go there that often except with a specific group of peers. Don't get me wrong, the western food there is good and the price, especially for the weekday set is super value for money. Is just that for me, I have associated this place to those special people, so I won't even go with anyone else there. :P

One weekend, the Hubs and I popped by for a meal because he, like the rest of the people, have never tried the food here. It is the first time I am having the weekend set. It was a little bit more pricey but it came with the salad bar and boy was I super full after that. Totally had to skip dessert. Definitely would recommend this homey corner but please don't hog the place cos there are days I want to eat there too and I really don't want to queue. :D

2. You Tang (Near upper cross street)

I would consider this a new kid on the block. We actually went there to eat something else but was attracted by its cafe-like interior and affordable food. It is not very apparent from our blog posts. But the Hubs and I are huge fans of the Chinese cuisine. Not everything, but when my Chinese friends bring me to try a bite and I like it, it goes into my list of edibles. Hehe.

We ordered the Kou Shui Ji (which was not in the recommended list), the dips and the Beef Noodle Soup. I have to say all the dishes were really well executed, whether or not they are the chef's picks. The Hubs and I were the only local there, so I guess it speaks volumes about the popularity with the Chinese. I definitely see myself going there again.

3. A Noodle Story @ Amoy

Part of me feels a bit wu-liao writing about this because I am pretty sure everybody knows A Noodle Story and should have at least tried it once. Sadly, the price of a bowl is getting higher (slightly lesser than S$10) and there is even a priority queue, which you have to pay for it. I think it is totally ridiculous, but still I find myself pining for it, once in a blue moon.

It is very good fusion food for sure. But it is really not an everyday thing. Even though it is located in Amoy food market, I find the price still somewhat exorbitant. Heng, I don't crave for it everyday. Have it when you are feeling rich. Will eat cheaper food in town next time :P

Yummy Day out with Hub

I love Septembers because a lot of my favourite life events happen in this month. Really appreciate that the hub bothered to set aside time for me. We spent like one whole day eating...and just exploring Singapore. And I enjoyed it so darn much.

It also made me sort of realised what we grown up from a stage of not enough money to not enough time. Although I wished we had more time together, I have to admit a little part of me do like a life of not really having to look at the price tag for each purchase. Wanna do it, just do la...:P

We started the day off with Starbucks. I was given the choice of Macs. But I feel like Macs is more of our weekend go-to and I wanted to target becoming a Starbucks Gold Member. (I am now a Grab Platinum Member and I somewhat feel like the shopaholic in me is finally being acknowledged. Yes, I want Starbucks to take note of my spending with them too!)

It has been at least 6 months since I had my last Starbucks breakfast and I felt that the quality of the coffee served at breakfast seems to taste so much better. The quantity is also quite substantial, giving us good reason to people watch. There is also like a wider selection to pick from for the breakfast set. I had pancakes, but it is just average. Hub's wrap was a lot more savory and hearty. You know what to choose next time.

Lunch was quite fancy at an Italian fancy restaurant - Garibaldi. Contrary to the whole paras I written above, we actually didn't spend a lot for this either. *Blush* We had a NS voucher so I got to go to a nice atas place FOC for their set lunch. I thought the food was good but the Hub felt otherwise. I guess he just can't take pure Italian cuisine.

Set Lunch:
  1. Soup of the Day and Buffalo Milk Mozzarella with San Marzano Tomatoes and Basil - Honestly, I couldn't take the strong taste of the cheese. Do Buffalo even give out milk? I thought they were male cows.
  2. Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Pan Fried Hokkaido Scallop and Homemade Spinach and Potato Gnocchi with Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce - I thought we made an excellent choice on these 2.
  3. Baked Eggplant Parmigiana and Angus Beef "Tagliata" with Rocket Salad and Roasted Potatoes - Both were actually quite good but I could only take that much rich food in a day. Sigh.
  4. Homemade Tiramisu with coca and Traditional Panna Cotta with Strawberries - I preferred the Tiramisu a lot more.

We had buffet for dinner. By now, I am sure you are thinking "How much can these 2 crazy people eat manz!!" Lol! I am sure I am losing my "spendthrift" title fast cos this was also free. We pretty much ate for free the whole day except for breakfast, which I paid...Hey did I just pay for the whole day?!? *insert shocked face*

Town Restaurant really have a good selection and we have been there a few times. I am pretty sure we will be going there a few more times given our awesome memories there. Best of all, I feel the price is really reasonable so it won't even burn that big a hole during our next visit. But maybe next time, I won't go for buffet because this gal here now can't eat much :'( Still, she is growing fat...why life liddat!

Parenthood Goodie Bag: I Love Children

We...okay maybe to be more precise...me signed up for a free parenthood kit from I Love Children. To set the record straight, there is no baby on the way yet...and there is nothing wrong with us either (at least not that we know of). I think it is just a case of being ready and me being all curious about the whole fertility topic.

Every year,  I Love Children will be giving out discounted fertility checks and free DIY tool kits. We were eligible this year so I happily went to collect the parenthood kit cos it is free *giggles* and quite useful. Quite honestly, I don't really know much about the ovulation and sperm-test kit. But, the pee stick...that I know...and should be rather useful.

In the bag, there was also a pamphlet...and this was when I realised there were quite a bit of things the 2 self-proclaimed top Bio students did not know. So, I thought it made sense to do up a post to quickly update some of you readers who may be in the same relationship stage:
  1. Fertility Health Check: I always thought it was those who might have problems. But actually couples who are planning to conceive should also go the check. Rule of thumb, if you have been trying for more than 6 months without success, you and your partner should go for the health check.
  2. The fertility health check can identify contributing factors in the woman or man. This can help to eliminate any conditions that could prevent or delay a healthy pregnancy.
  3. There is no validity date each fertility health check. But you should always consider doing a repeated check when you are above 35 years old, or there is some changes in your health conditions.
And I just realise the chances of me and Hubs conceiving is only like 10-15%, sounds so damn low...no wonder they say children are God's gift. Will probably do minor updates on how to use the toolkit if I can write it in a less explicit way *blush*

Is Comex worth the hassle?

So, the last weekend, I made one of the most bo-liao but exciting speculation of my life. I was thinking about replacing my laptop for the longest time and finally sort of set my mind on a Surface Pro because it looks so sleek. And also partially cos my old laptop can't really make it anymore.

Because the last day of Comex was 1 day before the Lazada 9.9 sale, I had to make one of the biggest decision of that week. Do I buy at Comex or through Lazada? It was my first time to Comex after a decade. I sort of concluded preferred online shopping more. I really hated the crowd and noise the deal was not exactly fantastic.

Eventually, I bought not 1 but 3 Surface Pro/Go and somewhat managed to snag a better deal than Lazada after much negotiations. Is it worth the trouble? If you are buying a standard bundle, you know what, just buy off Lazada, it saves you a lot more hassle. (My 3 sets are non-bundles by the way.)

So far, I am loving my Surface Pro. It is so sleek and versatile. I can use it as a tablet too. My only grouse is that my free photo editor app is now charging me on my SP. :'( This means it is now more expensive to maintain my website. Gahh...Other than that, I am loving my SP deeply. Can't wait to churn out more articles on this new baby.

Morning Joy: Nescafe Dolce Gusto

Generally, we do discuss our purchases for big ticket items. But this time round, the hubs went ahead and bought a Nescafe Dolce Gusto Surprise Box. Fortunately, we got the machine itself. Cos God knows what we are going to do with tons of capsules. I only got to do the comparison research between Nespresso and Nescafe machines after his rash purchase.

Although the hubs is more of a coffee connoisseur, I definitely won't consider myself as one. I actually appreciated Nescafe for the variety of capsule. But if you hold your coffee to high standards, you should get yourself a Nespresso instead even though the Nescafe machines have a wider price range and is generally more affordable.

Initially, I found Hub's purchase pretty gimmicky. But this machine bought the whole family closer...cos everyone actually gathered to watch the operations of the machine and filmed it on instag. And then, the mug was passed around as we each have a sip. Haha...I didn't expect this fancy electronic to bring so much joy to the people around us. Quite cute really...Definitely can't wait to flaunt this to our friends when the house arrive.

Personally, I feel that the recommended water level is a bit too high for my liking. I would prefer my beverages to be thicker. We have tried out 3 boxes of capsules and they have been great. If you have some spare cash, you should consider getting one...#nowafan :)

Handmade by Cheesebraid

Hi guys, its earrings again. I am guessing by now you are grumbling "gal, you only have one pair of ears, how many earrings do you need?" I have figured out by now earrings make or break the look. So there is really no harm getting more. In fact, the more the merrier. Will with you guys tricks on keeping the vanity desk tidy soon :D

If you are into simple handmade designs, you can check out Cheesebraid. The designs are quite cheerful and are rather light on the ears. As it is priced quite affordably, it is good for low commitment wears.

One of my girlfriends hosted a themed-party to welcome her new-born. Although I think I wasn't quite dressed to the theme, my ears definitely was. Hehe. Apart from the party, this is my most worn piece. It just easy, light-hearted and very easy to pair. My only grouse is that it looks too handmade and everyone keeps asking me if I made it myself.

Dinosaur

Cheesebraid do have some characters-inspired earrings. And those are my favourites. I also like their resin series...particularly the gummy bears. Just to set you guys expectations, the backing of these dinosaurs are not very hard and so it can be quite susceptible to bending. Not really for fussy buyers. But still, it was great fun wearing them to the opening night of Walking with Dinosaurs. Hehe.

Also received a free gift along with the 2. It was similar to the Lover piece. Personally, I won't recommend this design because I couldn't really wear it. Shockingly, I still have more earrings posts scheduled. *inserts shocked face* will try to pack in other interesting reads in the interim. hehe
