Slava's Snowshow Review

Touted as a family show, I took a peek at the review videos. I have to say I was utterly intrigued. Riding on the promotional prices (1 for 1), we decided to head over as an family for Slava's Snowshow. No regrets because it was one of the most interactive clown shows we have seen. There were a few acts and I couldn't completely comprehend the storyline. But somehow, I couldn't keep my eyes off them. 

My impression of clowns were that they were always comedic. In the acts, although their actions were pretty funny, it seemed to explore different themes of fear,  desolate and despair. They were basically miming throughout the shows. No words were spoken, but there were always murmurs of conversations by their young children audiences. 

During intermission, we didn't step out. And surprisingly, there was a small performance on its own. Eventually, it became a full act. The clowns would come down the stage, splashing water at the audience. The energy was chaotic, but fun. We could not really anticipate what would happen next. The kids and I were excited laughing during the 2nd half. 

Our favourite was the giant spider web, snow blizzard and the giant balls. It was a spectacle itself watching how a snow blizzard was presented. The kids would raise their hands to try to catch the web, paper and balls. I love how there were not much rules to enjoy. The crowd maintain civil and for Singapore standards, was having an absolute blast chasing the balls and throwing Papier-Mâchée in the air. 

Slava's Snowshow is only at Sands Theatre from 15 to 26 July, do get your tickets before it ends. It doesn't come by Singapore often. So the next time you get to watch it, it might be 3 years later! Tip: To catch promotional prices, always keep a lookout and check the MBS theatres social medias. That's how I caught mine :D 

F4 F✦FOREVER Concert Review

 

I was slightly disappointed when I knew the reunion happened in China and I missed the first concert. So when they launched their world tour, I decided I need to get the tickets fast (and at all cost), lest they decided not to continue on. So on to Jakarta we went. We've never been there and thought it would make a nice adventure. 

Apart for the tickets which I actually camped for, I got the top public seats, everything logistical was done on a very last minute basis. Oops. The aunties sure act fast cos it was sold out within 2 hours! (Eventually, there were extra shows added, but I wasn't really monitoring.) While camping, I realized that they have top tier tickets with special fan services but you had to whatsapp some authorised dealers on their website. I texted while I was camping, but no one got back. Maybe I was just too late. 

Inclusive of flight, tickets, hotels, food and shopping, it should be well within S$2K for 2 pax. On the concert day, we headed back to the arena at 4pm (to avoid traffic jam) and all, and that was when things got tricky. Most people don't speak English there. So we were directed back and forth at least 3 times before I could get my ticket band. I was a little anxious with slight panic attacks because I didn't know they were pre-allocated and not band collection dependent. Thankfully, we met Chinese speaking fans who assisted!

We ended up skipping dinner (and having it after) because I was too excited to eat and there is food sold within the arena. I ended up heading back to the hotel (read here) to take a bath and glam up a bit because I was so hot and sweaty from all the unnecessary walking. Plus, I wanted to see Jerry in my best form! HAHAHA! There were unauthorised merch sold outside. Didn't end up getting because there wasn't anything I super like. 

Going to a concert in Jakarta was really amazing! I love the bustling energy of the fans. Pre-concert, there were booths set up with lots of people singing and hyping to F4 songs. During the concerts, there were lots of singing along, screaming, shouting and even standing on the seats towards the end. There were a bit of squeezing and shoving when they walked off the seats towards the fans. But it was nothing too rowdy. Husband: I never knew aunties were so strong, my seat was ambushed everytime they walk past. 

A good 25% of the women brought along their +1. I thought we were pretty lucky that A-Shin joined in, although there may be some purist fans who disagree. We initially thought it would be a short concert given the songs F3 collectively had, but they lasted a good 2 hours. A-Shin even sung some Mayday songs which entertained my husband greatly! (Read here on Mayday Concert!) I did feel bad for him because most Indonesians didn't know him, so I tried to give more support by singing along and dancing to his numbers!

Among the boys, Zai Zai is the most popular in Indonesia. His fans even bought advertisements at the metro for him. Vanness was a solid performer, but I was a bit sad he didn't sing some of his old favourites and focused on his new English songs which I can't sing along too. Jerry sung some songs but not my favourites - 一公尺 and 地心引力.

This was my first time so up close with them. They are indeed very good-looking. I always kinda knew Jerry was quite introverted, but after seeing him perform, I now know how introverted he is. But still, I feel grateful that he chose to still perform. He gave great fan service, noticed me in the crowd (I was wearing a shirt full of little dragons) screaming his Chinese name. I won a smile and a heart-gesture. It was an amazing concert and I felt like I finally did what I wanted to do when I was a teenager. And it was also quite special because this time I had my husband to experience the youth he missed with me.  I left contemplating if I should attend the Singapore one with friends, and if the concert outlay and songs would change. 

After-effects of the concert was crazy, I ended up rewatching Jerry's interviews and was singing/ humming the songs for the next 2 weeks! Lol! And if you include the pre-concert excitement. That's like 3 months of singing F4 songs. Haha. I even made gifs of the videos I filmed there. Can't wait for my next concert already, and to be frank, I won't mind coming back to Jakarta for it. Cos honestly, Singapore concerts doesn't have that frenzy energy I adore.

Magic in the Kitchen - NNIO Glass Airfryer

For young adults espeically in Singapore, most of us are inadequate in cooking. Before I had my kids, I didn't really cook much. One thing I am really good at is fast, nutritious meals. I do make use a lot of sleek cooking equipment. So yes, I am skilled in the oven and also the airfryer. But today, I want to all about the latter. 

Personally, I love my meats but hated cooking over the stove because of how much oil it tends to splutter. The clean-up was always a nightmare. So, I always ate out when I had any meat cravings. But the airfryer was such a gamechanger to both my diet and my wallet. Check out the fancy meal we made using just the airfryer!

Using the NNIO glass airfryer, every time someone works from home, we will whip out our own gourmet dish. :D For me, I use it for my meats (proteins) and vegetables. There are reports that advise against airfrying starch. Prepping is quite easy - usually I add a piece of ginger (to mask the gamey smell) add a pinch of salt and pepper for good flavour and in it goes. At 170 degrees and 12 minutes later, I get a flavourful piece of meat ready to be eaten. Prep work and cooking all within the allocated 1 hour lunch time.

Cost-wise, I save some money but sometimes I end up spending a little more because I choose a better slice of cut. But I am definitely eating healthier because I am making more conscious choice on the ingredients! A lot of the people who know me always ask how I find the time/ energy to cook so much at home - right tools!

Every family needs to have an airfryer, if you haven't already got one. Price-wise, they are all very affordable. We are using the nnio glass airfryer (going below S$100 during sales). I enjoy watching my food getting cook so the glass really appealed to me. They have already preset 8 functions so it is really easy to use. This one is small and compact at 4L, great for cooking for 1-2 pax. We didn't want anything bigger because there was way too many things on our countertop and this one fitted in well with the design/ space of the kitchen.

Cleaning is also quite easy. Usually we soak it in soap water and the residues loosen. My only grouse is that it can't go into the dishwasher but it has already saved us way a lot of cleaning work.  Now, we spend our WFH days experimenting different dishes and finding better way of cooking. Here's us trying slices of fish using baking paper to suck out the oil so that we don't need to wash the Silicone Heat Resistant Mat!

Yakult Factory Tour Review

Feeling utterly privileged to be invited to the launch of the Peach Flavour Yakult with my little girl. My little girl was feeling very excited because this is one of her favourite drinks! So fun fact, she has only been on this Earth for less than 4 years and this is her 2nd visit. You know how thrilled she is when she wants to take photos with everything. 

Basically, the factory tour starts off with at the entrance with a display of the presence in the world and the different packaging in each countries. We headed up where there is a sharing session on everything Yakult. There, you will be treated to a free bottle of Yakult. Hurray!

For the first time in 46 years, Yakult is introducing a new flavour - Peach to replace Orange. Honestly, I always liked Original and Grape. And I barely knew anyone who had strong feelings for Orange. So I guess this is a great move! My little girl fell in love with Peach at once because it is pink and taste yummy! It is her favourite now!

Next, we visited the production area. No photos or videography, but I always felt that it was fascinating for those who never worked in the F&B Production. You will then understand why bottle designs cannot be changed at any whims and how scientific it can be! For those who has never visited, you must make a trip there at least once. 

Because I am an aunty, my favourite is always at the end where we can buy discounted Yakult. The last round the husband bought home 80! This time, I lugged home 50. It is mainly because it is discounted and there is reduced sugar flavour . Most importantly, you get a gashapon chance when you buy 40 bottles. Most of the merchandise are pretty lame but the kids love playing with it. We got lucky this time and scored the Yakult Gold Coin Box.

For maximum savings, best to go there with the Community Centre. We went there on our own expense and gosh, transport cost killed us. I probably made 0 savings. But I got to spend time exclusively with my girl and doing something she likes. That's special! <3 Will I go again? Of course, but this time with Community Centre and still buying 40 bottles haha!

CJ Hendry Flower Market - Last is Best

Lately, CJ Hendry Flower Market was the craze with scalpers and all. I initially wanted to drop by during the weekends with the family but I scrapped it due to the crowd. And thank god, I didn't go cos the crowd was rowdy and we probably will not enjoy ourselves there anyway. Eventually, they added an extra day and I managed to get a slot. But I missed my slot and ended up as a walk-in. 

Not that it matters (I didn't queue that long), but the whole hall was still crowded. I couldn't take the nice photos I wanted because there was very little variety with lots of gapping holes in the flower area. All I could take was people. I ended up picking a flower I liked and left. To be frank, I only liked 20%, hated a good 40% and felt absolutely neutral to the 100%. And so, I didn't get the mystery bag either.  (Heard it was disappointing as they were trying to clear stock.)

As luck would have it, they moved all the remaining flowers to the foyer and allowed walk-ins. I decided to make another trip with my colleagues after stalking their IG and comments. It was probably one of the better decision because I had a lot more fun and took a lot happier photos. Space matters! The flower options remain limited. It is better quality than most plushie flowers, but frankly I would have little use for them. 

I took home another 1 free flower for the kids. My personal view is that IMBA should have better managed this situation - either charge an entrance fee or manage the flowers that can be bought. I did know CJ Hendry as a result. But most people still didn't even bother to find out about her and her art. She is holding another experiential art - Ju Ju World, but frankly, I would love to see her hand drawn art better. 

If there is one thing I have learnt, some things are worth waiting (for). 

Paw Patrol at One Holland Village

We brought the kids to One Holland Village for the Paw Patrol event. To be honest, I was quite disappointed because the area was pretty small. We didn't get the tickets for the meet-up with the mascots because my children were not too keen in it. But I found the stage for the meet-and-greet tiny too, thought it would have been better without the stage. 

Fortunately, as we didn't pick the meet and greet, our tickets were only S$8 each after discount. Both kids had some fun going through different stations which included colouring, golfing, hop-scotch, magentic tiles building and a tiny bouncy castle. It was mainly just vendors trying to sell their products. But to be fair, the products were things which I would use and the discounts were really good. 

After you complete every station, we will get a goodie bag (worth estimated S$50). The realistic price is probably less than S$8 because most of the items are not very useful. Ended up giving a lot of things away, LOL. Nonetheless, Kids probably viewed fun a lot differently. They both told me it was extremely fun. There was a small booth selling the official toys, not very interesting and also no discount. They should just directly sell the movie tickets there, LOL!

Tickets without mascot meet-and-greets are only for weekday, so you need to take a day off just to bring them out. Fortunately the location is at Holland and there were still quite a lot to see and do around the vicinity. There are quite a bit of changes and Holland just doesn't look the same anymore. Even OHV tenants has become more off-the-mill. Still worth a visit, if your kids love Paw Patrol!

Splashtopia 2026: Ride the Wave of Aloha

Lately the weather is just killing. I am sweating so much and can't live without aircon. When I told the kids Splashtopia is back at Sentosa - Palawan Beach, the kids were celebrating! Something like a combination of swimming fun and bouncy castle, this always bring a smile to the kids. Most importantly, I found their events thoughtful and well-organised. 

Even when the crowd grow, it never gets rowdy with the staff looking out for the little ones. This year, it came back way bigger with eight one-of-a-kind giant bouncy castles and pools with a Hawaiian theme. 

If your children are into mascots, check out the timeslot, as Kiztopia Friends will be making special appearances. There are even mermaids meet-and-greet on specific days which made my daughter extremely happy. Each tickets are sold at 3 hours slots, but by 2 hours in, quite a bit of energy has been burnt. 

Food is sold at a very affordable price and there are always plenty of seats so we don't bother stepping out of their vicinity. Usually the children will gather around1.5hr mark to recharge with their food and water breaks. If your children are still around the baby-stage, I will suggest going during the weekdays as it is less crowded and you would need to join them in the pool. As mine are already toddlers, I can leave them to wander on their own.  

Don't be surprise, but even adults join in sometimes because some slides are incredibly thrilling. I tend to let the children go first. This time round, there are even water gun fights for the older kids! The package price are the best in terms of value. Splashtopia 2026: Ride the Wave of Aloha will be at the Palawan Beach from the June Holidays all the way till 28th June. Sometimes we even go more than once! Great June Playzone at Guoco Midtown and Guoco Midtown II

Starting the June Holidays with a huge bang at Guoco Midtown (Beach Road) and Guoco Midtown II (Tan Quee Lan). I have always wanted to explore it and after being there, I can safely say it is one of the most under-rated malls. The food selection is really unique. And they have an indoor kids play area to keep the young children entertain.

This June Holidays, they upped their game - launching the Great June Playzone! Under the Little Explorer's Play Zone, check out 4 interactive activity areas including doodling, slime play and sculpting etc. You just need to spend S$20 (not difficult) for a complimentary 45-minute session, limited to 10 complimentary slots a day. Otherwise, you can pay S$28 per child and join in at S$10 for adults.

But my favourite was probably the weekend culinary workshops hosted by participating dining outlets across Guoco Midtown and Guoco Midtown II under the Little Creators’ Club series. You simply need to spend $20 in a single receipt during the sign-up period to secure a workshop spot. Pre-registration is required, and one redemption per shopper per day applies.

If you do the maths, this is one of the sweetest deal ever. There is no way such workshops come at S$20. The only catch is that you need to come down more than once - to obtain receipts that fall within the stated sign-up period for each workshop and on the actual day itself to enjoy the workshop. Not particularly difficult given how convenient Guoco Midtown and Guoco Midtown II are...just beside Bugis MRT Stataion!

Guoco Midtown and Guoco Midtown II have climbed to the list of one the most fun malls in my kids' hearts and is now a more consistent hangout place for us. Given how high they set the bar, I have no idea how other malls are going to keep up :D But I sure look forward to all their future events and promotions!

Jakarta - Gig-Trip (3D2N)

I did my first gig-trip to Jakarta. Have never been there, but still I found it pretty exciting amidst their jams. Here's a 3D2N itinerary which I think you can follow too if you are going for a concert. 

Where to Stay: The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta

I tried to do a money-saving by booking last minute (I booked a day before by the way). The strategy didn't work and it fell flat. There was a price surge and all the cheaper rooms were sold out. I ended out not getting the hotel we initially wanted - Artotel Gelora Senayan Jakarta or a cheap luxury option - Fairmont. 

The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta is really convenient and within walking distance to the concert and the nearby shopping district. The compound is huge, I didn't even finish exploring the whole place. The exterior is a little worn, but the interior is clean. My favourite was their breakfast. It was delicious and had a massive selection. I even found ice-cream <3 Glad we ended up there!

How to Travel: By Gojek, By MRT (during Jam)

Gojek is really cheap there and is generally the preferred option because the pedestrian roads isn't very friendly. We ended up walking in circles a few times. Good thing we knew locals who swear by MRT. During desperate times, we gave it a try. We had to purchase the card (S$3) which is so expensive for their standards. Every top up had an administrative fees. However, it is really fast and was the best mode of transport during the peak hours. It still doesn't get you right at the doorstep though.

What we observed during the peak hours was that the Gojek driver would stop moving in the map and we would be leave in limbo. MRT was definitely the best option. Either that, we considered the pillion rider on bike option, which many of their locals seems to be taking. Fun fact, there are women cabin and we had to be educated by the commuters. :P

Day 1: Kota Dua / Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption/ Hutan Kota by Plataran

We went to their top attraction. Honestly, there isn't any much there and seems like we mainly went for food. Most of the people were locals and attempted to speak to us in Bahasa. For lunch, we had Pandang Merdeka instead of the highly instagrammable cafe - Cafe Batava. No regrets because their food was super good. We struggled a little on the language, pointing and translating the menu. I stuffed myself silly. Their pop chicken looked really unappetizing but is amazingly delicious. Do not miss it!  We chilled a little at Kedai Seni Djakarte to try their Poffertjes. Ok, but not a must-go!

As I had a bit of spare time, I decided to head to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, the one place I really wanted to check out. We ended up hitting peak hour and had problems catch a gojek. From there, we learnt that you need to give yourself buffer time. After debating for half an hour, we decided to take the metro (pretty convenient as it walking distance from the metro station!) and arrived at the beautiful cathedral. It doesn't beat anything you see in Europe. If you love architecture like me, you would enjoy a short visit. 

Ended the day with Dinner at Hutan Kota by Plataran, a recommendation by their locals. It is a little of a fine dining place and I love the attention to details they showered on us. (It started way before we arrived, from the day I made a reservation). As it was a special occasion, the waiters even came their a full assemble to sing us a song. Food is fusion style, but very tasty. It is pricey for the local standards, but worth every penny. The view and ambience was great. Highly recommend!

Day 2: Blok M Square Enclave

It is a very youthful place and I love it. It is a trending hang-out and I can understand why. We got a lot of caffeine fix here. Check out how many cups we had in total. Ranked according: Tuku (love their gula aren in their coffee), filosofi (typical good cup of Western Coffee), Matchaman (ok cup of matcha). It was a great shopping area. My best find being Ingood- a place which sold really cute merch and had  the most decorated photo booths with movable props and nice photo templates. We struggled a little with the payment instructions but the shop owners were kind enough to assist. Another nice find was a tee from Shrotam. 

Lunch was at Sarang Oci, which served another type of Indonesia cuisine. Another satisfied meal which I would highly recommend. We left the place soon after by metro again because the jam was crazy and I needed to collect my tickets for the concert. Would have loved fitting a massage session in, but I love shopping more!

Day 3: Last Minute Shopping - ASHTA District 8

Wasted a little bit of time exploring the Car-Free-Day booths. It is mostly street food which I had no courage to try. (I prefer shopping). ASHTA District 8 is my favourite shopping mall thus far. It has character and lots of interesting local brands. But too bad, I had so little time. I could only squeeze in a coffee stop at Fuglen and a grocery run. And it was to the airport. I surprisingly enjoyed Jakarta and can't wait to be back already. Can't wait to go there again for another concert!

K!dz Pop Con Asia 2026

Back at K!dz Pop Con Asia again, and this year, the booths were more spread out. I like that it was easier to navigate and had more space to think/ spend. We managed to finish most of the booths within a day, call me crazy, but I prefer to have more things so that I will FOMO. Lol! The bouncy areas were the highlight as usual. The area was as large and the children actually went for 2 session - literally the first and the last thing they did. 

After which, we went round the booths. The kids particularly enjoyed booths with crafts. As this year, it was held slightly before the June Holidays, I was a little bummed that there were not as many enrichment class vendors. I would have loved to get a few discounts and fix up some June Holiday Classes for them. Food was affordable and there was good variety this year. You don't have to step away to fill up your tummies!

This year, our favourite booth had to be Syrena, the mermaid's booth. There was so much to do there - including a balloon bubble, shiny face painting, playing with the gymnastics ribbon. All for free too. Plus the whole booth was very instagrammable. Bluey also made special guest appearances at their booths. More excited than the kids, cos I watch Bluey and they don't really. Haha.  I was a little sad this year My Little Pony didn't set up a booth because I am a huge fan. 

Toy Story 5 had a booth and their activities and free goodies were absolutely the best! We even ended purchasing some tickets to the upcoming movie. KPop Demon Hunters also had a booth just to sell merchandise only. Overall, I thought it was still a great, well-priced event. Maybe I was spoilt by last year (read my review here), I just want more! In any case, we can't wait for their next installment next year!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Musical

I am not a 100% favourite fan of Roald Dahl (anyway he has a very interesting love life), so I wasn't really following on their musical. My parents got some tickets and decided to whizz the family off to join them in their very first musical. Initially, I thought the musical was not very well received because there were so many promotions going on. Turns out they are having an extremely long run in Singapore from 19 May – 14 Jun 2026 (almost a month). 

My parents were extremely excited and took photos with almost everything and anything! Lol! To be fair, the musical is not too bad and the whole theatre was packed, but not iconic in my humble opinion. The wardrobe and props were really impressive and the Charlie's mother had a great singing voice. It was visually my most impressive musical to date. But the songs were not catchy enough (like Wicked), so I left not having any potential playlist. 

It was my first time taking the back-middle seat. I thought it was not too bad, you can't really see the cast faces and expressions. I am kinda of regretting for always picking the side-front seat for the ballet. Now I will never know should the spacing between dancers. Unfortunately no golden tickets for us. 

If you are not too particular about the seats/ production, I have learnt that it is ok to wait. Money Saving tips: You need to have a UOB Card. If you want to get MBS cashback, you need to go to MBS to purchase the tickets at the counter. Otherwise, just buy online, it is easier. As and when, there is always some promotions. I don't see any patterns to date, you just need to follow them. But it is never for the best seats!

Edge - Best Buffet in Town

Back at Edge again for their "sea of flavours" cos I just can't get enough of them. This is one buffet place that I keep getting cravings for. I love their variety and how there is something for everyone. I also like how they continuously improve. Their oriental soup used to be very average, but now it is something I go for when I am there. 

Like my fellow Singaporeans, I decided to "attack" the seafood table. My favourite is always the snow crab. They are always generous with the pincers and each come with succulent chunks of meat. Diners usually swipe off a full plate for their table. Try to be there when they refill it. My husband went for the crabs, it was cooked in various gravy. Joy for the tastebuds!

Dishes to look out for this time round includes the Lobster Bisque with Cognac, House-smoked Pork Belly and 12-hour Braised Tajima Wagyu Beef Short Rib. I was super surprised to see Frog Leg being served too. Must try is the Mayura Station Chocolate-fed Wagyu Beef with Ponzu and Braised Leek! For the adults, the selection this time round was insanely awesome! I ate so much, I didn't have any room left for sashimi!

During our 3-hours long meal (yup that's how long we stayed), we even had mini quizzes and htht within ourselves. The kids didn't even watch any shows. I knew that was how engaged they were. After our chat breaks, we continued on with the desserts - the kids went for their favourite ice-cream and chocolate fondue. If you have limited capacity, skip their cakes cos they are not as outstanding as the rest. 

Best buffet in town, it just never disappoints. A perfect place for diners (especially big families) to celebrate any special occasions. For those who want to try "sea of flavours", it is here until 21 June 2026 (Fridays to Sundays from 6pm to 10pm)

Best Indoor Playground - HappyWiz

For those who are living in the East, lucky you, I just might have found the best indoor playground to date. First of all, HappyWiz is huge. It easily has the tallest indoor playground slide in Singapore - I tried it myself, it is very thrilling even for the adults. It has the typical pretend play kitchens, hinoki pit and ball pit.

What stood out apart from their very tall slide was a cow which you could milk and feed. I truly have never seen anything like that in any other indoor playgrounds. It was pretty intriguing for the children, I think they might have spent a good half-an-hour just milking it dry. Lol. 

For other play sections, HappyWiz does it better that their competitors. There was also a car repair area with costumes and a trampoline area which is linked to a screen, so you could see yourself hopping up and there. In the ball pit, there was a basketball hoop and a giant float which you could climb on to shoot. As the area was huge, their structure hid many slides, obstacle areas and even a mini flying fox. Some of the obstacle areas even lit up! You probably can even play a legit game of hide and seek!

The whole place was very vibrant and well-lit. Not a priority but every photo came out awesome! :P As a parent, I am quite torn between playing and taking the chance to take a breather. I ended up climbing the structure and sliding down most of their slides. Like most places, they also offer the birthday packages and they have proper space to host. Off the top of my head, I can only think of 2 places/locations which can do that. 

Their only disadvantage is that they are in a rather new mall - imall. It is not the most convenient. But we did a bit of exploration and found it was still worth to be a destination place because imall have an interesting food selection which you probably won't find elsewhere. Either which, you could just cross over to Marine Parade, Katong Streets or iKatong to find something yummy to fill the tummy. 

Like the children, I absolutely adore this. I just hope that they have a little more outlets so that groupbuys will be launched. :D Would suggest going for a 3 hours package because trust me 3 is not enough :D

Mother's Day Quiz with Pigeon

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there. If I may be honest, being a mother is one of the most tiresome journey. There are days I would if I didn't have kids, I probably would have so much more spare time. But how I use it would probably be a waste of resources (watching more dramas maybe). At the same time, it is also meaningful, sharing your day, knowledge with the (appreciative) little ones. They still hug, kiss and massage me. Can't be sure if they are older it will still be the same. 

Pigeon launched quite a cute quiz on what sort of motherhood care we are. It is incredibly accurate and it phrases every type of care beautifully. The why we do it is very true! It is a bit of a fairy tale like storyboard with scenarios that are extremely relatable on a day-to-day basis. Very fun for mothers and maybe even fathers :P

Food Tour 68: Yummy Food at City Gate Mall

Recently, we were around City Gate area and decided to pop into the mall. It was such a nice surprise for us because I didn't even know there was this mall. And there was quite a nice variety of food that was not seen in other areas before there. 

1. Palapa 

Palama was such a happy find. It serves authentic Indonesian food. The portion was generous and delicious and the price was very affordable. There were even set meals for the kids, which consisted of fried fish. I particularly the flavoured rice but not the children. The stall owner was kind enough to provide me some white rice. The noodles were a little spicy for the children. So if you have toddlers like me, do remember to change the carbs to white rice instead. Indonesian food is always a little too heavy on the salt for me. Apart from the soup, everything else was not too salty. They have a few outlets, so do give them a try and your nearest outlet. 

K!DZ Pop Con Asia Returns!

I am always on the lookout for activities for the kids and I am so happy to know that K!DZ Pop Con Asia is back! We were there last year (read our review here) and there was so much to do. I was a little disappointed with ourselves for not dropping by the first thing in the morning. For those who are new to this, this is basically a convention where enrichment classes, kids related retail gather all in one place. For me, I like to think of it as a place to allow my kids to enjoy the bouncy castle with a lot more frills. :P

This year, there will also be live stage performances, giant bouncing castles, hands-on workshops, exciting mascot meet-and-greets. This year, you will get to catch Bluey, Toy Story and even a mermaid! I am an adult but I am particularly excited by the the potential for Toy Story merchandise. 

To get the best bang for your bucks (you hear it first from me here!), if you are a family of 3-4 with children old enough to manage themselves in the bouncy area, go for the buddy pax and add on basic entry tickets. The difference between the basic entry tickets apart from being able to enter the inflatables are the free Aikido Shinju-kai 1x Free Trial lesson (worth $29) and Sabertooth Taekwondo 1x Free Trial lesson (worth $50).

Kids below 2 years old are free, but every child must be accompanied by an adult. When the floor plans are ready, take a good look or be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. There's quite a lot to do and even more freebies/awesome sales (from last year's experience) so do remember to bring a huge tote bag for your loots.

ArtScience Museum: Klook Discount

ArtScience Museum is one of my favourite museums in Singapore because it doesn't take itself too seriously. What they curate, is always fun, easy to absorb and ease into. I am usually there when there is some artist curation. But this time round, it was the children who wanted to go, mainly because there an ongoing exhibition on the anatomy of insects. It was a very colourful exhibit, but not my favourite topic.

To be honest, it was the Sketch Aquarium that captured their attention the most. It was very interactive with slides and drawn animation. Also, you get to snap really pretty photos. From an artistic perspective, the husband and I felt that was the most frivolous art form. But the kids were truly engaged and couldn't wait to be back. ArtScience Museum usually rotates the curation yearly. So I guess it is next year :P
